I have loved this song since it came out in 1958 I'm 77 now and I have Alexa play it for me in the mornings.....nothing starts the day out better than a little Happy Organ......I remember sitting in History class at Queen Anne High in Seattle and hearing this song on someones car radio outside the window...everyone in the class started jiving to it .....fell in love with it the first time I heard it.....

I used to play this song back to back, over and over as a kid. Someone gave me a crate of old 45 lps when I was about 6 yrs old and this was my favorite. My granddaughter asked me today what were some of my favorite songs when I was growing up and this one came to mind. Great surprise to find it so I can share with her! 🎶 Thank you!

This song is a standut childhood memory for me! This song was on an 8-track oldies collection that my Dad played in our van, and he had the LP (vinyl) version as well. :) I've always loved this song!
I was born in 1968 -- the music of the 80s was that of my teen years, but by then, I'd had a solid upbringing of all kinds of oldies.
I'm glad and grateful that I was raised with music and an understanding of the world before I was born. I truly wonder how many of today's kids have that!

See, as I was born in the early 1960's, I so remember my Dad used to like playing the SAME records in our living room before dinner - most every Sunday. One of the tunes was Lee Dorsey's "Ya Ya" song. Wild Jimmy Spruill, guitarist, played on that song as well as this true gem.

I'm in my 70's and remember this song was treasured by the radio disc jockeys of the day. Such straight-up rocking really led us all to see how our insides can go wild outside of ourselves in joyous abandon on the dance floor or with a rock'n'roll instrument. The joy is freeing and empowering.

When I was little, my mom took a bunch of Polaroid pictures and took them to a video store where someone put them together on a couple of tapes, like a slideshow, along to a sound track. The guy picked the soundtrack himself, and this was one of many songs he chose. It’s one of my favorites, and reminds me of my childhood to this day.

From the AM tube radio in my '59 Studebaker Lark as I pulled into Ricky's Drive-In and not only ordered a char-broiled (and so much better than Burger King) Double Cheeseburger Deluxe, fries, onion rings, and a strawberry malted, but Mary, the blonde car hop who waited on me and I both met, and through friendship, and courtship, we became husband and wife! Mary outlived the old Stude Lark, but eventually followed it, sadly. This song is THE tangible reminder of the only girl I ever loved in my life, not to mention if I should see a '59 Lark anywhere.
