His work consists mainly of short-form self-directed "monologues about life" shot in his grandparents' home. As of March 2008, Crocker's videos have received a combined 45.8 million plays on MySpace, and his vlog channel on YouTube is the 18th most viewed of all time in all categories, with over 153 million views. Although he has produced dozens of videos, Crocker gained international fame from his viral video tearfully defending Britney Spears's "lackluster MTV comeback" with over four million views in two days. The video received international media attention, hundreds of parodies, criticism and generated death threats for the androgynous performer.
Crocker's detractors and critics have accused him of narcissism, melodramatics, histrionics, and using Spears' personal shortcomings to bolster his own fame. Others have accused Crocker of acting in the "Leave Britney Alone" video, although he insisted it was a genuine on a September 2007 appearance on Maury Povich's Maury show.
In September 2007 Variety magazine revealed Crocker had signed a development deal with 44 Blue Productions to star in a documentary-style reality television show.
On September 19, 2008 Crocker released his first single "Mind In the Gutter" from his debut album Turned On set for release in January 2009. It has yet to be confirmed if he is signed to a label or not.
Fell For the Enemy

Once you look away
You can never come back
It started as a game
The bet was on my hear
But when I looked away
The tricks were hard to catch
But now I see right through
No more hurting me
No more loving
You just wasted all my time
Empty promises and lies
No my fantasy has died
I never asked
For these broken pieces
You left me with
You took advantage
Did so much damage
Right when you hit
You knew just what to target in me
When you shot I dropped to my knees
How could this be?
I feel for the enemy
A fantastic debut
Taking part in your masquerade
I starred as the fool
And while the music played
I gave my heart to you
Boy, how was I confused
I was only being used
I never asked
For these broken pieces
You left me with
You took advantage
Did so much damage
Right when you hit
You knew just what to target in me
When you shot I dropped to my knees
How could this be?
I feel for the enemy
I ate the apple off your tree
I can feel the poison
Running through me
I keep getting stronger
Boy you wish that I was weak
But you're never gonna break me
'Cause I know that you're the enemy
I never asked
For these broken pieces
You left me with
You took advantage
Did so much damage
Right when you hit
You knew just what to target in me
When you shot I dropped to my knees
How could this be?
That I feel for the enemy
In the song, "Fell For the Enemy," Chris Crocker takes us through the stages of their experience of falling in love with someone who turns out to be their enemy. The song's meaning is centered on the concept of betrayal and what it does to a person. The opening lines suggest that once someone looks away, there is no going back, suggesting that once something has happened, it's impossible to undo it. In this case, the person had fallen in love with someone who turns out to be their enemy, and they had no idea what was happening.
The chorus outlines the pain and disappointment in discovering the reality of the situation. The once-beloved interest was full of empty promises, lies, and had wasted their time. The singer has been left with broken pieces, and they feel betrayed by someone who knew the right buttons to push to make them drop to their knees. It seems like their love interest's intention was to cause them extreme pain and torture.
However, the singer is stronger than their enemy realizes. They ate the apple off their tree and could feel the poison running through them, but they're getting stronger. The enemy thought they were weak, but they were mistaken. This verse suggests that while the singer has learned an invaluable lesson about betrayal, they're also ready to move on, knowing that even though they fell for the enemy once, they won't let it happen again.
