If you really love him, and there's nothing I can do
Don't try to spare my feelings, just tell me that we're through
And make it easy on yourself
Make it easy on yourself
Cause breaking up is so very hard to do
No words of consolation will make me miss you less
My darling if this is goodbye, I just know I'm gonna cry
So run to him, before you start crying too
And make it easy on yourself
Make it easy on yourself
Cause breaking up is so very hard to do
Oh, baby, it's so hard to do
And make it easy on yourself
Make it easy on yourself
Cause breaking up is so very hard to do
The song "Make It Easy On Yourself" by Chris McNulty is a poignant and relatable reflection on the challenges and pain of breaking up with someone. The lyrics express the singer's heartbreak and acceptance of the situation, encouraging their partner to be honest and straightforward with them about ending the relationship. The opening lines set a tone of resignation and sadness, acknowledging that breaking up is never an easy process, especially when there are deep emotions involved. Despite this, the singer implores their partner not to sugarcoat the situation, but to be honest and direct about their feelings.
The second verse delves deeper into the singer's emotions, depicting the pain of realizing that someone else can make their partner happier than they can. The singer acknowledges that no amount of comforting words can make the loss of their relationship any easier, and that saying goodbye will inevitably lead to tears. The chorus serves as a reminder that, no matter how difficult it may be, it is important to make the breakup as painless as possible for both parties involved. Instead of prolonging the agony, the singer encourages their partner to end the relationship quickly and decisively, so that both of them can move forward with their lives.
Overall, "Make It Easy On Yourself" is a resonant and empathetic portrayal of the heartbreak and struggle that comes with the end of a love affair. The lyrics capture the difficulty of letting go, but also emphasize the importance of facing the truth and taking decisive action.
