Let You Know
Chris Sligh Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You see a time of change
Don't it all feel strange'
Stuck in the reverb of me,
I hear echos of myself
But I can't say what I see.
To my great divide
Someday when the sky is falling I will let you know
Someday when my dreams are caving in I will let you
Know
I'll let you know
Forget the first verse of life:
There's nothing learned at all
At least until you fall.
Stratospheres and atmospheres collide,
Worlds come to an end
And there's nowhere left to hide.
pre-chorus * chorus
...when I'm falling
I'll let you know when I'm calling
I'll let you know when I'm breaking
I'll let you know when I'm making it through.
chorus
In the song "Let You Know" by Chris Sligh, the dark and emotional lyrics seem to evoke feelings of confusion, uncertainty, and deep introspection. The opening lines "Lost in the windows of time, you see a time of change. Don't it all feel strange?" set the tone for the entire song as it explores themes of self-discovery and the human experience. The verses contrast the singer's internal struggles with their external reality, creating a sense of dissonance and dissociation. The phrase "stuck in the reverb of me" speaks to the singer's self-reflection, and the idea that we are all the sum of our experiences over time. The line "Stratospheres and atmospheres collide" feels particularly poignant and haunting, as if the singer is caught between two worlds, and the apocalypse is imminent. However, in the chorus, the singer offers a glimmer of hope, promising to "let you know" when they are falling, calling, breaking or making it through.
Overall, the song seems to be grappling with the idea that we are all objects of change, constantly evolving and adapting to new circumstances. In Sligh's case, these circumstances seem particularly dire, with sudden upheavals and the threat of complete collapse weighing heavily on him. However, the song ultimately offers a message of hope, promising that even in the worst of times, we will emerge stronger and more resilient. It's a powerful and deeply moving message that resonates strongly with listeners who may be going through similar struggles.
