human
Christaux Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Walking
I'm lost on a highway
I talk to myself everyday
I'll never know
If it's good this way
Everything turns
From white to grey
I am human
But you don't care
I am human
But you don't care

Don't make your feelings
Too complex
I let you free long ago
Are you ready for me
Can't you see
I'm dying
Are you ready for me
It's too much to watch
It's too late
I am human
But you don't care
I am human
But you don't care

Hear me now
Hear me now
Hear me now
Heal me now
Heal me now
Heal me now

I'm a dove now
I'm the forest
Where you can hide
Talk to me

I am human
But you don't care
I am human
I am human

I am human
But you don't care

Overall Meaning

In Christaux's song "Human," the singer expresses feelings of being lost and alone on a highway, talking to themselves just to have someone to talk to. The singer wonders if their life is good this way, as everything seems to be turning from white to grey. They acknowledge that they are human but feel that no one cares about that fact. The singer has let someone go and tells them not to make their feelings too complex. The singer is dying, and they want to know if the person they let go is ready for them, but it seems too late. The song ends with the plea to hear and heal them, as they feel like a dove in the forest where someone can hide.

The lyrics of "Human" express the human need for connection and the pain that comes when that connection is lost or unrequited. The singer is lost and alone, and even though they are human, they feel like no one cares. They are asking for someone to hear and heal them, for someone to acknowledge their humanity and care about them. This song is speaking to the part of everyone who has felt alone and disconnected, and it acknowledges the struggle of trying to connect and feeling like it's too late.
