1. Mayumi Ya… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least four artists under the name "Cindy":
1. Mayumi Yamamoto (山本真裕美, born May 5, 1958), known solely by her stage name Cindy, was a Japanese singer-songwriter, active as a singer from 1984 to 1997 and as a songwriter from 1984 to 1998.
She is probably best known for her song "私達を信じていて", and composing multiple Number One hits for Miho Nakayama, namely "人魚姫", "Witches" and "ROSÉCOLOR".
She passed away due to cancer at the age of 42 in Los Angeles, on January 12th, 2001.
2. A pop punk group from Auckland New Zealand
3. Kai Hugo, the dutch house producer rebranded himself as Palmbomen II in 2015 and released an ace album of psychedelic acid jams on Beats In Space. He named all the tracks on that record after various minor characters from episodes of The X-Files, but one of them – ‘Cindy Savalas’ – stuck somehow.
His next album, Memories of Cindy, filled in a fictional biography. Cindy lived in the small Californian town of Carmel Vista and died in mysterious circumstances. Hugo hired actor and model Blue LoLãn to give a face and voice to the character, and she sang on a few of the tracks – notably its blistering highlight, ‘Are You Friends with Amber?’.
Now Cindy has her own album – a pretty good, shoegaze-tinged dream pop record, recorded before the character’s ‘death’, with a loose narrative about her life, loves, and heartbreaks. LoLãn is front and centre, singing and talking on every track, breathing life into a character that has become an uncanny avatar for both LoLãn and Hugo.
4. San Franciso based group fronted by Karina Gill, together with Aaron Diko, Jesse Jackson and Simon Phillips. They released their first self-titled album in 2018, followed by Free Advice in 2020 and 1:2 in 2021. They are due to release a new album, Why Not Now?, on 14th April 2023.

You said hey come with me
Let's go walk across the bridge
It's easy to seeYou're not even fooling me
With your face like a cardboard box there's a stray cat inside
We could walk the seven milesto the boardwalk from Sunset ParkTake the bus back to the city
Fall asleep and miss our stop
It's easy to seeYou're not even fooling me
You've got a taste for the dark
While you were still hereI'd let the world disappear
But like a lost dog at the end of the day I'm not so glad I got away
It's easy to see
You're not even fooling me
With your face like an iron chain all that I can do is wait
The lyrics to "Lost Dog" by Cindy suggest a yearning for a sense of belonging. The singer reminisces about a time when they didn't have a name but someone offered to go on a walk with them. They describe the simplicity of walking across a bridge and observing a stray cat in a cardboard box. The lyrics suggest that the singer is not easily fooled by pretense, referring to their companion's face as a cinder block and iron chain.
The emotions in the song become amplified as the singer discusses how they would let the world disappear if their companion were still with them. The absence of their companion leaves the singer feeling like a lost dog. They contemplate how their life could have been different if they hadn't gotten away. The song strikes a poignant chord with many listeners who relate to the feeling of being lost and trying to find a sense of home.

I’ve just bought the album. It’s stunning. It’s like the Velvets but sadder and more stripped back and (wait for it) . . better songs!
