Finale
Cindy Benson Lyrics

Christmas bells are ringing
Christmas bells are ringing
Christmas bells are ringing

How time flies
When compassion dies
No stocking, no candy canes
No gingerbread, no safety net

No loose change, no change, no
Santa Claus is coming
'Cause Santa Claus ain't coming
No room at the Holiday Inn again
Well, maybe next year or when

December twenty-fourth, ten p.m.
Eastern standard time
I can't believe a year went by so fast
Time to see, what we have time to see

Turn the projector on first shot roger
With the fender guitar he just got out of hock
When he sold the car
That took him away and back

I found my song
He found his song
If he could just find Mimi
I tried you know I tried

Fade in on mark
Who's still in the dark
But he's got great footage
Which he's cut together

To screen tonight
In honor of Benny's wife
Muffy, Alison
Pulling Benny out of the east village location

Then again, maybe we won't screen it tonight
I wonder how Alison found out about Mimi?
Maybe a bird told her or an angel
I had a little hunch you could use, a little 'flow

Tutoring again? Negative
Back at you? No, no you, no
I rewired the ATM at the food emporium
To provide an honorarium to anyone with the code

The code, well
A N G E L

Yet robin hooding isn't the solution
The powers that be must be undermined
Where they dwell in a small exclusive
Gourmet institution

Where we overcharge the wealthy, clientèle
Let's open up a restaurant in Santa Fe
With a private corner banquette in the back
We'll make it yet, we'll somehow get to Santa Fe

But you'd miss New York before you could unpack
Mark, Roger, anyone? Help
Maureen?
It's Mimi, I can't get her up the stairs

No, she was huddled in the park in the dark
And she was freezing and begged to come here
Over here, oh, god
Got a light, I know you, you're shivering

She's been living on the street
We need some heat
I'm shivering
We can buy some wood and something to eat

I'm afraid she needs more than heat
I heard that
Collins will call for a doctor, honey
Don't waste your money on mimi, me, me

Hello-911? I'm on hold
Cold, cold, would you light my candle
Yes, we'll, oh God, find a candle

I should tell you
I should tell you
I should tell you
I should tell you

I should tell you
Benny wasn't any
Shh, I know
I should tell you why I left
It wasn't, 'cause I didn't

I know, I should tell you
I should tell you
I should tell you, I love you

Who do you think you are?
Leaving me alone with my guitar
Hold on there's something you

Should here
It isn't much but it took all year

Overall Meaning

Cindy Benson's song Finale is a collection of different stories and characters, all of whom come together for the final holiday celebrations. The song starts with the ringing of Christmas bells and a reflection on how quickly time passes by. But, as the lyrics unfold, it becomes clear that not everyone has reason to celebrate during the holidays. There are no stockings, candy canes, or gingerbread for those who are struggling to make ends meet. It's a time when the safety net of society seems to disappear, and people are left to fend for themselves.

The character Mark is filming the events of the evening, and we learn that he and Roger have found their songs. However, Mimi, who is homeless and struggling to survive on the streets, is in dire need of help. Collins calls for a doctor, but Mimi's condition appears to be much worse than a mere cold. As the song progresses, there is a sense of urgency and desperation, and we feel a tinge of sadness in the air. Despite this, there is also a sense of hope and possibility, as the characters vow to find a way to rise above their circumstances.

This song is a poignant reminder that Christmas can be a difficult season for many people who are struggling financially, emotionally, or physically. It's a time when the need for compassion and empathy is at its greatest. The characters in this song are symbols of resilience, determination, and hope. They remind us that even in the darkest of times, there is always a chance for redemption.

I miss him on SVU. Was a great character, and Danny Pino played him very well.

I get how some people might be pissed but I actually thought this was a great recognition to Stabler and Benson's relationship with him. They always had a very complicated relationship and in a way, quite toxic. They were kind of dependent on each other and didn't work well without each other. That doesn't mean it didn't mean anything, he just had a different affect on her than Amaro did. Their friendship has truly allowed her to grow and let go of the past. She's become more her own person now instead of living in someone's else's shadow.

@Claudine Faure It's been ages since I've seen the first episode

Claudine Faure

She was his junior partner.
First episode, Cragen said that he will have to show how they work to a junior Det. He doesn't enjoy the news and of course it goes worse when his new partner is a woman. Do you remember this :'" I' m a good cop." ?
And he goes "yeah sure".
Then it is history

@Mending Wall I wasn't putting it down or even comparing the two. Just saying their whole dynamic was different.
