They formed in the year 2000 by Jamie Bailey (Bass/Vocals also with Brodequin, Liturgy) and Ricky Myers (Drums also with Disgorge (US) and Sarcolytic). They originally went by the name Incestuous before they formed Cinerary. They released an EP called "Rituals of Desecration" and split up after in 2001.

Matti and Jamie went on to form Liturgy.
