Zero

Life passed on today
She remembered all the times they had
It will never come back again
I can't wait for tomorrow
I can not bring back yesterday
Now I see the light before me
It just brings me on my way
Even in the shadows remain
Baby, I know that you and I will meet again someday

I know there's something you wanna say
You close the door at night
You make me go away

I try to make you remember... belief is all you need
And show you I'll be around forever
I try to make you remember me
I try to open your mind

Even if the stars remain
Baby, I know that you and I will meet again

I try to make you remember... belief is all you need
And show you I'll be around forever

I try to make you remember me
I try to open your mind

Overall Meaning

The song "Zero" by Circus Maximus is a melancholic ballad that talks about moving on from life's past events and embracing the present moment. The lyrics convey a sense of acceptance, as the singer reflects on the "times they had" but acknowledges that they can never be brought back. He puts his hopes in the future, "I can't wait for tomorrow," and trusts that everything will fall into place. Nevertheless, he does not ignore his past and knows that even in the darkest of places, there is still a ray of hope that shines through, "Even in the shadows remain."

The bridge of the song is about the singer's relationship with a loved one. He longs to be with them and knows there is something they want to tell him. However, he feels closed off from them, as if they are pushing him away, "You close the door at night, you make me go away." Despite this, he tries to reach out to them and make them remember the bond they share, "I try to make you remember...belief is all you need." The chorus reprises the same themes of hope for the future and confidence that they will meet again.

Overall, "Zero" encapsulates the struggles and triumphs of moving forward in life while treasuring one's past memories and relationships.

I hope this gives Circus Maximus some much DESERVED attention. I got the 1st Chapter in 2006 and bought Isolate the week that album came out. I'm patiently waiting for them to come to SoCal. I highly recommend you guys checking out the songs Sin (1st Chapter) and Mouth Of Madness (Isolate). These guys toured with Symphony X in Europe a few years back and I wish I could have been over there for that tour :D !

There is no replacing Roy, of course, but getting the second best singer in the business to fill in for him - not bad! I've seen Circus live several times, and just like Roy, Michael is one of the few singers that sound as good live as he does on the CDs. I'd love to go to the States now, just to see how this would work out! :-) Best of luck to Khan dealing with his health issues, and to Michael rocking the States!

That solo is fucking incredible. I sorta feel the vocal side of this song lets it down a little, because the instrumental half of it is amazing.

My God, the vocals at 3:27!

Eriksen is truly one of a kind...
