People should be considering how develop the world without making everything urban. Mega cities seem terrible. It's the worst part of living in a community. There's too many people, so it's inconvenient, and you don't get to know anyone, because there's too many people.

Single stream recycling is basically a joke. It's not hard at all to separate things at home. It's far more difficult to separate things when they are all mixed like that.

Maybe instead of developing automation for recycling, just give people different colored bags for each kind of type, and throw them in the bin. The sorting is much easier when it's already pre-sorted.

Composting can follow the same concept, of using a specially colored bag, but instead of being placed in the recycling bin, it can be in the trash, if that makes more sense.

Uber, in my opinion, was supposed to be a free way to connect people for ride sharing. Instead, it's just a lame taxi company with no union.

I think that shared transportation should be free, and people should opt in, because they have extra seats, and are heading that way. It shouldn't really be a job, just something you do because you are friendly. If there's no one headed your way, then taxi service is ok.

The problem with public transportation is the lack of convenience. How are you going to shop for anything, if you don't have a convenient way to get it home? I really don't buy this idea that public transportation is the solution. It's just part of the solution, not the answer. What's wrong with having a car that you don't need all the time?

You know it's time for serious "city discussion" when the violins start playing over a skyline timelapse

i am from Ahmedabad, and this is accurate narrative of my city, yes there is some corruption in development, but it done in advancing projects, and also waste management is improving .

@CoolMan-ig1ol

True. Corruption to an extent is acceptable if the cost you pay in bribes makes the work much faster than the legal cost which is aimed at getting more votes than making economic sense.

Its pretty clear that ahmedabad is successful by just looking at the map.
All localities look similar and well connected irrespective of incomes.
That's astronomically better than having groups of luxury skyscrapers connected by a single road and slums all around...
