They play an incredibly fun and oh-so-catchy fusion of danceable Rock & Roll and early Pop. Although they do draw loads of influence from bands that have been known to grace this sort of sound, they play a style of music that is both fresh and completely their own and has the ability to appeal to almost anyone no matter their age group or musical preference.
However, one thing that they do believe is that nearly all of todays 'revival' bands focus far too much on the negative side of Rock & Roll, most notably the whole B-Grade Horror and Straight Outta The Trailer park vibes, and although they love the bands that have this kind of sound, they feel that there is a whole other side that no one portrays; a much lighter, happier side. So instead of Cheetah Print and Chainsaws, City Bowl songs feature content such as sun, surf, bikinis, Martinis, and pretty much just having a good time. A soundtrack to the Durban lifestyle.
The Mizers have been rocking the South African scene with their infectious, melody soaked blend of Pop and Rock & Roll for almost two years now. They formed in the summer of '04 and since then have accomplished things that most kids their age could only ever dream of. Playing hugely succesful shows in every major city, sharing the stage with some of South Africa's most renowned acts, media coverage over both radio and television, and press coverage including a 5 Star review of their debut album Lights Out in Blunt Magazine and a spot in Student Life Magazines' Top 5 Bands Of 2005 and ' Album of the Month!' in August's edition of FHM.
Having toured South Africa WAY more than "just a few times", playing GREAT shows to audiences of over 30 000 people at the Quiksilver World Championship (both 2005 and 2006), playing even GREATER shows to less than 20 people at the Winston Pub, The Mizers are truly a band that do what they love, and love what they do.
The Mizers released their debut full length album, entitled Lights Out earlier this years, partially independently and partially through SONY MUSIC and have played over 7 Album Launch shows all around the country to promote it.
The album can be found at indie record stores in both Cape Town, Jo'burg and Durban, and will soon be available at retail outlets and through indie distros, just ask for it wherever you go looking! You can also order a copy of the album incredibly easily directly from us for Ā£10 (postage included). You can order the album via Myspace message to our page or by email to readon_m@hotmail.com. Your copy of the album will be sent via speedmail and will be hitting your CD player within a few days of your order. Please feel free to drop us a message or an email if you have any enquiries, and please don't doubt just how easy it is to order a copy of the album!
The Mizers moved up to London in early July (2006), and since then have been touring, and playing shows around London and all its surrounding countys, resulting in a dire need for dance-floor repairs at every venue they play. For the short time they have been in the UK, the hype surrounding this band and the responses they have been drawing from EVERY crowd they play to (starting with their debut UK performance) was previously un-heard of.
There may be a good couple of bands creating a 'stir' in the UK Live Music Scene...it seems the Mizers prefer it 'shaken'...

City Bowl Mizers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Wondering what I did to deserve this,
My heart beats out the deceit daily,
Catch me if you can,
Swiftly slip through your idle hands,
Your love's a vice I'll never understand,
It will poison me to the grave,
If I carry on, loving you the same,
On this bullet I bite,
Got to hold back from another fight,
Bite the bullet, don't let go.
That'll be a day to remember,
Not so far from now,
I still, I forget,
When I've been gone for a while...
'Cause you've been bad and you should know better...
woahhhh...
Standing by the window,
putting out a cigarette,
Moving my feet to the click of my fingers,
I can't waste any more of my time, Working it out,
Getting back in the swing of things,
It's harder than it looks,
But you know what I mean,
"It's killing me now" and "I feel so much better",
but only for so long,
And then I trip off the tightrope,
On this bullet I bite,
Got to hold back from another fight,
Bite the bullet, don't let go,
That'll be a day to remember,
Not so far from now,
I still, I forget,
When I've been gone for a while...
'Cause you've been had and you should know better,
Wooah
(uh huh)
Dressed for the occasion,
But I haven't gotten there yet,
Changing radio stations, for the love I can't forget,
Dress for the occasion...
That'll be a day to remember,
Not so far from now,
I still, I forget,
When I've been gone for a while...
'Cause you've been bad and you should know better...
Woahhhh...
Uh-huh,
Uh Huh...
Uh-huh,
Uh Huh...
Uh-huh, Uh-huh,
Uh Huh...
Uh-huh,
Uh Huh...
Uh-huh, Uh-huh,
Uh Huh...
Uh-huh,

The opening lines of City Bowl Mizers's song "Uh Huh" depict a sense of dissatisfaction and confusion in a toxic relationship. The persona is standing by the window, smoking a cigarette and reflecting on their situation, wondering why they deserve to be stuck in this mess as deceit and heartbreak consume them daily. The persona acknowledges their partner's manipulative vice, that is poisonous and inexplicable, causing them to feel trapped. Despite this, the persona hints at being unable to resist the partner's grip, as they bite the bullet and hold back from another fight, waiting for the day when they can remember it all as a distant memory.
In the second verse, the persona continues to reflect on the relationship. Trying to work it out, they realize how hard it is to get back in the swing of things. Though it's killing them, they continue to hold on, only to trip off the tightrope (meaning, they're at the brink of losing control), biting on a bullet to hold back from another fight. They describe their partner's actions as bad and suggest that they should know better as they put out the cigarette, dress for the occasion, and change radio stations, intending to move on from the ordeal.
Overall, "Uh Huh" is an emotional piece about a toxic relationship that takes a toll on the persona, causing them to reflect on their experience and question how they ended up in that situation. The song highlights the struggle of holding onto a poisonous love and ultimately letting go.
