Another Universe
Arno Carstens Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Let's take the final bow
Let's make the silent sign
Nobody needs to know
Where we're off to

We're invisible alive
We're the whispers in the scream
We're not living in the west
And we're not coming from the east

Sharp is the knife
And alive is the night
I'm gonna slit the throat of the holy goat
Ceremony to the UFO
And SMS them where we wanna go, ooh

From the galaxy of blues
To a universe we choose
No more crying and just maybe
Somebody to hold

From a galaxy of blues
To a universe we choose
No more crying and just maybe
Somebody to hold

Let's play the metal music slow
Leave the car on the highway and go
Nobody needs to know
Another universe

Make a distance between us and them
Lonely, lonely never us again
A galaxy to explore
Don't wanna return to a world at war

From a galaxy of blues
To a universe we choose
No more crying and just maybe
Somebody to hold

From the galaxy of blues
To a universe we choose

No more crying and just maybe
Somebody to hold

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Arno Carstens's song Another Universe speak to the desire for escape from the mundane and chaotic world we live in. The opening lines invite the listener to take a final bow and make a silent sign, closing the door on the past and all its troubles. The next few lines highlight the feeling of being invisible and whispers in the scream, a metaphor for being heard but not being seen, the feeling of being unnoticed or unimportant. The lyrics then go on to reject traditional values by stating that they are not living in the west or coming from the east, effectively rejecting the binary idea of east vs west and embracing the idea of existing outside of those preconceived notions.

The song then shifts to a more aggressive tone with the line "Sharp is the knife, and alive is the night, I'm gonna slit the throat of the holy goat." This line can be interpreted as a rejection of the idea of the "holy goat" or institutions or values that are revered but may not be deserving of that reverence. The song then speaks to the idea of a ceremony to the UFO, an invitation or acknowledgement of the possibility of extraterrestrial life. The chorus repeats the phrase "From a galaxy of blues to a universe we choose, no more crying and just maybe somebody to hold." The idea of escaping to another universe, where one can find solace and perhaps a loving companion, is one of the more poignant themes of the song.

@BombardierBraveheart

Does it matter, were here listening, so we've got good taste in music 🎶

@brandonmcdonald6339

Songs these days that gets 1 million in the first day, are garbage and are being pushed. But its filled with subliminal messages and symbols and what not.

@jasonhenriques2692

@@BombardierBraveheart i agree! Most of todays music is very monotonous and just crap! (Not all, but most)

@dewett2844

Because the millions are lesser than the millenials. I'm 21 years old. I'm in love. But I have a vision. One day, when I'm there, I shall look back & know; no regrets. Love is the answer.. even if it gets your heart broken it's :)

Take me back to the days when I was a little boy. My mum and I would take a road trip from Port Elizabeth to Cape Town and this song would always play.

We have the best talent right here in our backyard. Arno is a "CW" local that brings international standard in music and performance to SA.
