Well…the music of Clarensau is kind of like that.
Few bands can do so much with so little. The beauty of Clarensau’s sound is found in the simplicity of two acoustic guitars, the blend of the male and female voice, and the subtly found in just a touch of strings. Think Damien Rice meets Eisley or The Swell Season meets Taylor Swift…think The Fray if they traded in the piano for a pair of acoustic guitars.
Clarensau began as the solo project of Tyler Clarensau in late 2004, and has taken many different shapes in the days since. But it wasn’t until he met up with Sally and Tyler Caggiano that the band really began to take its greatest form. The band has over 300 shows under their belt and multiple EPs and self-releases, all which lead up to their official debut album, UNTIL OUR LUNGS GIVE.
Recorded in an Atlanta suburb with recording artist and producer Corey Crowder, UOLG boasts eight emotion-filled songs that sound a lot like a late night sing-a-long among friends. From the radio-friendly melody of “Summer’s Love Song” to the percussive beauty of “Coming Home,” from the honesty of “Love” to the frailty of “I Would Trade (Grandpa’s Song),” the sound of UOLG captures the essence of Clarensau…a sound that captivates the passion of the journey of life.
Not allowing music to be the only way to connect with people, Tyler Clarensau has also published two novels, both which center around the music he creates with the Caggianos. For the trio, this whole music thing isn’t the point, rather it’s the means by which they share their story with the world.
So don’t think of Clarensau as just another band with another set of songs and another tour schedule… think of them as that friend that’s there to help you sing your song.
Please Don't Go
Clarensau Lyrics

And you were gone
Would my breath still fall out of my lungs
What if the morning came
And you were nowhere to be found
Would I cry out
Or could I even make a sound
Please don′t go
I think I'd lose my way
I know I′d lose my mind
No matter what they say
Your love can't leave my life
Please don't go
Please don′t go
When all our time has passed
Will my heart be pointed at you
Will this love last
Can this love last
And all our promises
Will they be ringing true
Will this love last
Can this love last
I know I′m not the man
You thought you'd be bringing home
Please don′t go
What if I woke up in the middle of the night
And you were gone
The lyrics to Clarensau's song Please Don't Go are all about the fear of losing the person the singer loves. The opening lines, "What if I woke up in the middle of the night, And you were gone, Would my breath still fall out of my lungs" set the tone for the entire song. The singer is questioning what they would do if their partner was to leave, and they're unsure they could handle it. They're expressing how much their partner means to them and how lost they would be without them.
Throughout the song, the lyrics continue to explore the fear of losing this person. The line "I think I'd lose my way, I know I'd lose my mind" shows that the singer believes their partner is their guide in life, and without them, they would be lost. They also question if their love will last or if their promises will be ringing true. The lyric, "I know I'm not the man you thought you'd be bringing home" shows that the singer is aware they're not perfect, but they're pleading with their partner to not leave them even though they're flawed.
This song is all about the fear of losing someone we love, and it's a message many people can relate to. Many people have had the experience of loving someone so much that the thought of them leaving makes them feel like their world is ending. It's a song that shows how important it is to treasure the people we love and to never take them for granted. In a world that often feels unstable and unpredictable, we all need someone we can count on to be there for us, to be our rock.
