Well…the music of Clarensau is kind of like that.
Few bands can do so much with so little. The beauty of Clarensau’s sound is found in the simplicity of two acoustic guitars, the blend of the male and female voice, and the subtly found in just a touch of strings. Think Damien Rice meets Eisley or The Swell Season meets Taylor Swift…think The Fray if they traded in the piano for a pair of acoustic guitars.
Clarensau began as the solo project of Tyler Clarensau in late 2004, and has taken many different shapes in the days since. But it wasn’t until he met up with Sally and Tyler Caggiano that the band really began to take its greatest form. The band has over 300 shows under their belt and multiple EPs and self-releases, all which lead up to their official debut album, UNTIL OUR LUNGS GIVE.
Recorded in an Atlanta suburb with recording artist and producer Corey Crowder, UOLG boasts eight emotion-filled songs that sound a lot like a late night sing-a-long among friends. From the radio-friendly melody of “Summer’s Love Song” to the percussive beauty of “Coming Home,” from the honesty of “Love” to the frailty of “I Would Trade (Grandpa’s Song),” the sound of UOLG captures the essence of Clarensau…a sound that captivates the passion of the journey of life.
Not allowing music to be the only way to connect with people, Tyler Clarensau has also published two novels, both which center around the music he creates with the Caggianos. For the trio, this whole music thing isn’t the point, rather it’s the means by which they share their story with the world.
So don’t think of Clarensau as just another band with another set of songs and another tour schedule… think of them as that friend that’s there to help you sing your song.

I find it so amazing that you could want me
I spend my days runnin' away
Hidin' in the mess I've made
I need you to save me now
I'm hidin' 'cause I can't compare
I realize, I don't have to
I find it hard to beleive that you still love me
I find it so amazing that you still want me
And I'm so tired of runnin' away
I need you to save me now
I'm hidin' 'cause I can't compare
I realize, I don't have to
I need you to save me now
And, oh, I know where I've been
And, oh, I know that you do, too
But somehow, you still want me
You say you find me lovely
Oh, somehow, you still want me
You say you find me lovely
And I don't know why
And I can't see
What it is
You see in me
I need you to save me now
I'm hidin' 'cause I can't compare
I realize, I don't have to
I need you to save me now
I need you to save me now
The lyrics of Clarensau's song "Save Me Now" convey a deep sense of insecurity and worthlessness. The singer seems to be overwhelmed by self-doubt and feelings of inadequacy. They find it hard to believe that someone could genuinely love and want them. The lines "I spend my days runnin' away, Hidin' in the mess I've made" suggest that the singer has been avoiding facing their problems and instead wallowing in self-pity. The repeated refrain "I need you to save me now" indicates a desperate plea for help and rescue from this self-destructive cycle.
The song's message is ultimately one of hope and redemption. The singer realizes that they don't have to compare themselves to others or live up to some impossible standard of perfection. The lines "I realize, I don't have to" suggest a newfound acceptance of oneself. The love and acceptance of the other person mentioned in the song, who finds the singer "lovely" despite their flaws and mistakes, is what saves them. The final lines of the song express the mystery of this unconditional love and acceptance, as the singer asks, "And I don't know why, And I can't see, What it is, You see in me."
Overall, "Save Me Now" is a poignant expression of the human struggle with self-doubt and insecurity, as well as an affirmation of the healing power of love and acceptance.
