Soft Spot
Claud Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

This sounds kinda strange I thought
I saw you at a party but
I finally got close it wasn't you

I know we don't talk right now
But if I saw you I'd sit down
And ask about your afternoon
You made it clear that it's over now
But you're all that I think about
So now I don't know what the hell to do

'Cause I've got a soft spot
I've got it for you
It for you

We used to lay in bed and talk
For hours about everything
And anything you said you wanted to

Pull the covers over our short hair
Pretend like the city wasn't there
Like it was only just us two

You told me that it's over now
But I can't help that I think about
All the things that we used to do

'Cause I've got a soft spot
I've got it for you
It for you

I wish I left all my things at your place so I could come get them
We'd do things we might regret and say that we could make exceptions
I just can't take the rejection
Maybe I'm just second guessing

'Cause I've got a soft spot
I've got it for you
It for you
It for you

It for you
It for you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Claud's song Soft Spot describe the feeling of being unable to move on from a past relationship despite the fact that the person has made it clear that it's over. The song begins with the realization that the singer thought they saw their ex at a party, but upon closer inspection, it wasn't them. They mention that they don't talk anymore but if they were to see them, they would ask about their day. The chorus is a repetition of the line "I've got a soft spot, I've got it for you," conveying the sentiment that the singer still has feelings for their ex.

The second verse talks about the memories of the relationship, how they used to lay in bed and talk for hours about everything, and how the world seemed to be just the two of them. The verse ends with the reminder that although the relationship is over, the singer can't help but think about all the things they used to do.

The bridge seems to be a moment of desperation where the singer wishes they had left their things at their ex's place so they could have an excuse to see them again. They also express a desire to do things they might regret, and they mention that the rejection hurts. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus, solidifying the idea that the singer still has a soft spot for their ex.

I lowkey want claud to not be mainstreamed. Too precious 🙃

First of all, it’s claud* and secondly, be careful what you wish for. Is there not something special about an artist so unique they attract a specific following? And such following may be smaller but perhaps the quality is elevated. More is not always better, especially in music popularity.

First off, I would love to tell you how utterly adorable you are and how extremely brave you are. Your voice is stunning and as a mother, to two tiny little kiddos, I hope to see more diverse individuals like yourself coming up in the music industry. I watched many of my friends struggle with gender fluidity and sexuality, and remembering how they struggled has always caused concern for me. I want my kiddos to grow up in a world where they can truly be themselves. I hope you get super famous, not just for you but for everyone. This world needs change, and you are a beautiful part of that. Thank you so much for your enjoyable music. (I've been listening to this on repeat for days, it reminds me of my childhood in many aways. 😊)
