Like Someone in Love
Claude Williamson Trio Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hearing guitars like someone in love.
Sometimes the things I do astound me,
Mostly whenever you're around me.
Lately I seem to walk as though I had wings,
Bump into things like someone in love.
Each time I look at you,
I'm limp as a glove,
These lyrics from the Claude Williamson Trio's song “Like Someone In Love” are a poetic depiction of the feelings of love and infatuation. The first line sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the singer finds themselves staring at the stars and hearing guitars, which could represent the romanticized idea of falling in love.
The singer then goes on to describe how their actions are astounded by the presence of the person they love. This could symbolize how love can make people act in ways that they never thought they would. The idea of "walking as though having wings" is reminiscent of the feeling of being on top of the world, and then “bumping into things” could represent the idea that love can also make one careless and not conscious of their surroundings.
Finally, the singer admits to feeling weak whenever he looks at the person he loves. The idea of being "limp as a glove" could symbolize how infatuation can make one feel vulnerable and exposed. Overall, the lyrics of "Like Someone In Love" paint a picture of how love can make a person feel powerful, yet powerless at the same time.
