It ain't a trip hop trip, but the sea shore is a state of spirit. And Claudia Dorei's music has this. Liquid, sinuous, rippling, the adjectives for her can never be too harsh. This is one of the multiple magnetisms of her first - and until now, only - album, 'Respire" (Breathe). Released in 2009, it is still vital to the nem brazilian music, as the act that the album's title suggest.
Singer, trumpet player, composer, Claudia likes to make it "simple and economic" as she said. And that's how she conceived her album, finding her own voice after working and studying with Denise Stoklos, a brazilian performer, Gerald Thomas, british theater director for whom she composed soundtracks, and swimming through Portishead, Bjork, Chet Baker, Kruder & Dorfeister, jazz, hip hop, dub and electronic music.
Born in Rio de Janeiro, rooted in São Paulo, Claudia has breeze and urgency. Surrounded by musicians she preciously seeked, like sea shells on the sand, she recorded "Respire" in a home-made sphere, with the magic spice of Buguinha Dub (sound engineer that works with Nação Zumbi) on the mix. The result was 11 sunny, sweet, spatial, but also full of dramatic quality, songs like "Gentileza" (in honor of Prophet Gentileza - which in inglish means the Kindness Prophet, a man who used to walk around Rio de Janeiro and paint the walls with the saying that Kindness creates Kindness) and "Som", in which the flute falls in love with the beatbox.
Serene, Claudia released the album, produced by herself, on the traditional format, but also offered as a free download. In mainland, many, besides being delighted and thankful, turned out to be fans, that spawned other fans, that.....
In an organic way, like the one that breathes the right way, she swears with her two feet on the wet sand, that she will release two more albuns to accomplish what she idealise as a trilogy. While it isn't solid reality, "Respire" is released again with a new cover, signed by Veronica d'Orey, with picture by Elza Cohen. It's time to dive again. Is it Claudia there, on the water?

Cercada de músicos que catou, preciosamente, como conchas na areia, ela gravou “Respire”, em clima caseiro, com o tempero mágico de Buguinha Dub (da Nação Zumbi) na mixagem. O resultado foram 11 músicas ensolaradas, doces, cheias de espaço, mas também repletas de dramaticidade, como “Gentileza” (homenagem ao profeta Gentileza, lembrado pela celestial pregação “gentileza gera gentileza”) e “Som”, na qual a flauta se enamora do beatbox.

De forma natural, como quem respira corretamente, ela promete, jura de pés juntos na areia molhada, que vai lançar mais dois discos para completar o que idealiza como uma trilogia. Enquanto isso não se transforma em sólida realidade, “Respire” reaparece agora, mais bonito ainda, com a nova capa, assinada por Verônica Orey e foto de Elza Cohen. Hora de dar um novo mergulho. É a Cláudia ali na água?
