Fighting
Claymore Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I trust you
When you wanna be your true self everything will make it right
I believe it
The dream will take me high and let me free
What is on my mind no one can stop me,
Try to laugh at me nothing can stop me,
I'm ready to fight
People said you should be stable over
A lifetime step by step follow the line
But I can't stop the scream from my heart when I stop to walk on.
No one can stop me,
Try to laugh at me
Nothing can stop me,
I'm ready to fight
I just want to know who I am
Even the pain on the way someday
I overcome the fear in my soul
People said you should be stable over
A lifetime step by step follow the line
But I can't stop the scream from my heart when I stop to walk on.
No one can stop me,
Try to laugh at me
Nothing can stop me,
I'm ready to fight
I just want to know who I am
Even the pain on the way someday I overcome
The fear in my soul
I try to go my way

Never say never and never forget
Remember how it began

Looking at this, I always seemed more apt to count the highland pattern claymore as more an oversized long sword than as a greatsword. Many of these techniques seem more a hybrid between the two.

Highland Broadsword

The difference is especially the flat and broad profile of the scottish greatsword. But yes, it is a kind of a hybrid, when it comes to twohander vs twohander, many things are similar possible like german or italian longsword or english longsword. In battle versus various weapons, it is similar to Montante, Spadone. Just in the practical approach this makes most sense according to the little we know about its use in history.

Claymore actually means Greatsword in Gaelic.

Working with my own Claymore as a quarantine project, great to see its application.
Keep up the great content lads.

Been doing vr for exercise. Been playing a sword fighting game and wanted to learn the proper techniques with a claymore. Love these kind of vids as well!

For everyone here that’s a little confused as to where the Claymore fits in the Longsword to Greatsword ratio, it’s what would be called a Warsword. Or, for a more lengthy term, Greatsword of War. They weren’t exactly like your Average Zweihander with a Flamberge blade, just, very hefty Longswords that filled a similar role as it’s larger counterpart.
Fantastic video, by the way!

There was a clan battle back in 1544 up in the Scottish Highlands, fought between several hundred members of this MacDonald-Cameron alliance vs a slightly smaller contingent of Graham's & Fraser's, as that particularly hellacious & blood drenched engagement took place along with shores of a Highland Loch.
It was known as "The Battle of the Shirts," & it went down as one of the bloodiest & nastiest battles that ever broke out in the history of Scottish clans, as each side sought to exterminate the other with extreme ferocity & this sense of hyper tribal pride all while displaying the type of swordfighting prowess & finesse that was probably quite similar to that featured above.

At the end of the day, after all the cleaved & slashed & pierced bodies had piled up, only 3 men from one side & 5 from the other, all badly wounded, managed to walk away. The carnage was unreal, the fighting exceptionally savage, passions were at a fever pitch, the war cries were dreadful & nerve testing, & the ground splashed in rivers of blood.

Scottish Highland warfare of that era was often taken to a higher, far nastier & merciless level than that which was common on the fields of mainland Europe. For such primitive internecine tribal warfare that broke out over territorial disputes, stolen cattle or ancient grudges whose primeval roiling often boiled over was pretty endemic up in the Scottish Highlands & over in Ireland for centuries, often brutal & viciously intense, while in the rest of Europe post 1400 it became extremely rare (the Balkan lands & that border region between Swabia & Switzerland excepted, yet even most of the tribal combat that broke out in those disputed zones was largely less pitiless, viscerally inspired & long lasting, as rival Irish & Scottish clans often had a severe fetish & infatuation with wiping each other out, with no quarter or mercy expected to be asked or given from both opposing combatants!).

The skin of more primitive people is usually very thin while the blood often boils over with little provocation, generally speaking. Anyways, what a fantastic & fascinating demonstration above (inspirational!)👍👍

primitive? some are norsemen. and normans were granted land in scotland for going into battle. the native celts would have been battle-hardened as well. they interbred and made the merciless scots. they were highly sought after for their breeding that made them into intimidating warriors.
the clan system was broken up after the rebellion. they were not primitive by any means. my sept is still alive, my clan is coming back together, and it's very clear we all share the same culture, even after hundreds of years.
that was a very entertaining read, though, thank you.
