LYING BY...
...THE OCEAN!
GOLDEN SUN
IN METAL SKY...
...BURNING!
...LIES IN
GRASS BROWN SEARCH
FOR COOLING AIR
DYING, DYING WITH YOU!
HARSHNESS FLEES,
COLOURS FADE,
NIGHT FALLS!
QUIET WINDS
SEARCH SILVER SANDS...
...WANDERING!
The lyrics to Clear Light's song "Sand" evoke a vivid image of a radiant beach scene, with golden sand and a shimmering ocean under a hot sun. The opening lines present the visual of sand lying by the ocean, intensifying its gleaming nature. The following line "Golden sun in metal sky... burning" strengthens the scorching heat of the environment. The lyrics point out the oppressive heat as grasses seek a cooling breeze, drawing our attention to how it can be uncomfortable and sometimes unbearable. The lyrics also introduce a sense of duality, as the music presents both the beauty of the beach and the harshness of its environment, demonstrated in the phrase "Dying, dying with you." The lyrics create a stark contrast between the radiance of the day and the tranquillity of the night. The closing lyrics evoke an imagable scene of night when the punishing heat dissipates, and the quiet wind wanders through the silver sands. The line "Harshness flees, colours fade, night falls," is invocative of peace after an extended day of sunlight.

I saw these guys back in the day in New York city, 2 drummers, one was Dallas Taylor, who moved on to play with CSN.
Great tight band back then
