In 1991 Clepsydra released their first album "Hologram", which was followed by the EP "Fly Man" in 1993. Clepsydra then signed to InsideOut, who released their second album "More Grains of Sand" in 1994. This CD included the song Moonshine on Heights, which by many is regarded as neo-prog classic. 1994 also saw them performing two songs on national Swiss TV, a rare occurrence for a progressive rock band at that time.
In 1998 Clepsydra released their third album "Fears", the first album with Marco Cerulli on guitar. In the wake of the album release Clepsydra had a 10 day long European tour and was booked for a concert in Canada on the strength of this production. In 2001 the band released "Alone" with Nicola De Vita on bass. This album came with 3 different album covers: "The Chicken", "The Octopus" and "The Fish".
Following these four albums Clepsydra entered a state of hiatus. At this point they had established themselves as a popular entity among fans of neo-progressive rock, and they were often compared to the likes of Jadis, IQ and Fish-era Marillion. In 2013 Clepsydra announced they were reuniting, with Andy Thommen back on bass guitar and a reunion tour scheduled for 2014. A 4 CD box set limited to 1’000 pieces is on pre-order as of November 2013 to be shipped early 2014 featuring all 4 albums meticulously re-mastered with an hour of additional bonus material and unreleased material.

Fly Man
Clepsydra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Tell me what do think about me
You know, everybody's talking bad
Thought I do my very best to try to please them all
Maybe for this it is that I am still alone
But everybody knows me
So they think, disappointed!
No! Don't go away
Don't leave me alone
Not alone! No, no, no!
Only you really know me
You know every why of my life
Because you were there
Tell me what do you know
Will I love life? Will I love living in this odyssey?
Or will I pin a syringue in my throat?
Oh yes, I will live, I tell you I'll live
Oh no! Oh no!
I'll never die until you stay with me
Where are you going fly man?
No! Don't go away
Don't leave me alone
Not alone! No, no, no!
Now I'm really alone
My soul left me too
Everybody was right
That I am finished
Wher are you going fly man?
No! Don't go away
Don't leave me alone
Not alone! No, no, no!
Where are you going fly man?
No! Don't go away
The song "Fly Man" by Clepsydra is a melancholic ballad about the loneliness of a person who is shunned by others despite their best efforts to please everyone. The song's protagonist is addressing someone whom they refer to as "Fly Man" and asking them not to leave, as they are the only one who truly knows and understands them. The singer is feeling isolated and disconnected from the world around them, as everyone else seems to be talking about them in a negative light. They wonder if they will ever be able to love life or if they will succumb to despair and take their own life. Through it all, they implore Fly Man to stay with them and keep them from being alone.
The overall mood of the song is one of sadness and resignation. The imagery of a fly man suggests someone who is fleeting and ephemeral, like a fragile creature that may disappear at any moment. The singer's desperation to keep Fly Man with them underscores their sense of isolation and desperation. The final lines, "Where are you going fly man? No! Don't go away, Don't leave me alone, Not alone! No, no, no!" are especially poignant, as they capture the singer's fear of being left behind in a world that doesn't seem to understand or care about them.
