With his backing group The Shadows, he dominated the British popular music scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s, before and during the The Beatles' first year in the charts. A conversion to Christianity and subsequent softening of his music led to his having more of a pop than rock image. Although never able to achieve the same impact in the United States as in Britain (in spite of several chart hits there), Richard has remained a popular music, film, and television personality in the UK and also retains a following in several other countries.
During the last six decades, Cliff Richard has charted many hit singles, and holds the record (along with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its active decades (1950s–2000s). According to his website, he has sold 250 million records over the course of his career. In the British charts alone, Richard has had more than 150 singles, albums and EPs make the top 20.
Frenesí
Cliff Richard & The Shadows Lyrics

I knew that "frenesí" meant "Please love me" and I could say frenesí.
A lovely señorita caught my eye, I stood enchanted as she wandered by
And never knowing that it come from me, I gently sighed frenesí.
She stopped and raised her eyes to mine, Her lips just pleaded to be kissed
Her eyes were soft as candle-shine, so how was I to resist?
And now without a heart to call my own, a greater happiness I've never known
Because her kisses are for me alone, who wouldn't say frenesí.
Frenesí
is a song by Cliff Richard & The Shadows that tells a story of a man who is having a great time at a fiesta in Mexico, a scene that is typical of the Latin American culture. The singer in the song stops to admire the show and notices a lovely señorita who catches his eye. He realizes that "frenesí" means "Please love me" and he could say the same to the señorita who walked by him while he stood enchanted.
The singer in the song then expresses his feelings, saying that her lips just pleaded to be kissed, and her eyes were soft as candle-shine, making it hard for him to resist. He explains that he now has no heart to call his own, but he has never known a greater happiness than the one he has experienced through her kisses. The song captures the beauty of falling in love, the irresistible charm that love brings, and the happiness that comes with finding someone who loves you back.
