In 1996, the band played the very first Ozzfest. In 1997, their first album Coal Chamber was released; it produced one single and a video, "Loco" (the video was also added after the end credits of Dee Snider's horror film Strangeland, the soundtrack for which the band also recorded an exclusive song).
Their second album Chamber Music followed in 1999. Between the releases, Foss married Sevendust drummer Morgan Rose and became pregnant, necessitating another bass player on tour, a role filled by Nadja Peulen. Foss came back for the recording of Coal Chamber's third album, Dark Days (2002), but left after the studio sessions to raise her daughter. The band's only single and video was the song "Fiend."
Their 4th album Rivals released on May 19th, 2015. The singles on it were I.O.U Nothing and Rivals. It stepped away from the gothic elements from the last 2 albums and was described as groove/nu metal. They disbanded a year after the album was released.
They reunited in 2022, and so far no hints of new music will be released.

Eyes of attack
Coming with one hand in pocket
To take from me
Sin in the eyes I see
Sin is nice of me
Nothing left for me
Reality
You have messed up
Can't do anything
And I have messed up
Can't do anything
You're just a fuckup
I'm just a fuckup
We're just two fuckups
At least we're fucked
Up together
So sad to see you go
I said to myself you
Know
So sad to see a mind
Disappear through
Time
Lunacy's an argued
Taste
I guess there's no time
To waste
Oh passing times it's a
Passing phase
Reality
Forget it
You have messed up
Can't do anything
And I have messed up
Can't do anything
You're just a fuckup
I'm just a fuckup
We're just two fuckups
At least we're fucked
Up together
We are two fuckups
You have messed up
Can't do anything
And I have messed up
Can't do anything
You're just a fuckup
I'm just a fuckup
We're just two fuckups
At least we're fucked
Up together
Together, together
Together, together...on
Paper

The lyrics to Coal Chamber's song Beckoned are a reflection on the harsh reality of life and the struggles that come with it. The song starts off with a description of a figure dressed in black approaching the singer, with a sense of aggression in their eyes. The figure seems to be after something valuable that the singer possesses. The sin the figure embodies is also noted, implying that their intentions are not entirely pure. The singer then expresses a sense of resignation- that there is nothing left for them in reality, thus they must forget it.
The lyrics then move to a conversation between two people who refer to each other as 'fuckups'. They both acknowledge that they have messed up in some way or another, and that there is not much they can do about it. However, there is a sense of comfort in knowing that they are in the same boat- that they are both messed up together. This sentiment is repeated multiple times, emphasizing the bond that they share.
The song then shifts to a mournful tone as the singer talks about the sadness they feel in watching someone's mind disappear with time. The concept of lunacy is also mentioned, hinting at mental illness. The passing of time is also noted- that it is a fleeting phase that we have to come to terms with. The song ends with the repetition of the 'fuckup' sentiment, but this time it is extended to include the listeners as well, drawing them into the shared struggle.
Overall, the song Beckoned is a reflection on the difficulties of life and the sense of isolation and resignation that can come with it. However, through the use of the repeated 'fuckup' sentiment, the song also emphasizes the importance of shared experience and solidarity.
