Cody Ash Lyrics

Saving my time
Staying inside
I'll be alright
All alone in here

Wasting my kind
Heart and mind
I'll be alright
All alone in here

Overall Meaning

In Cody Ash's song "Wasting Time," he seems to be singing about the act of distancing himself from the world, withdrawing from society, and isolating himself in a metaphorical sense. The song's first two lines are particularly telling: "Saving my time, staying inside." Perhaps, Cody Ash is trying to express that he is saving his precious time rather than wasting it out in the world. His decision to stay inside could be seen as a way to protect himself or to avoid the outside world's troubles, either physically, mentally or socially. The following line, "I'll be alright," makes it apparent that he is aware of the consequences of this form of self-exile. Although he wants to avoid the drama of the outside world, he's aware of the negative impact it will have on his life. He thinks that being alone will help him to heal, but as the song continues, it becomes apparent that he is only exacerbating his mental pain.

In the second verse, he notes that he's wasting his kind heart and mind. His isolation is causing him to become bitter and jaded, which is hurting him mentally and physically. He's aware of the effects, but he can't seem to do anything to change it. However, despite all the pain he's enduring, he remains positive and reassures himself that he'll be okay. The constant repetition of "I'll be alright, all alone in here," signals his awareness of the gravity of his situation. It's his alone time, and he is confident that he'll regain his bearings eventually. Cody Ash shows that it's okay to isolate oneself to a certain extent, but it's important to understand that this can be harmful in the long run.
