Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, the two attended high school together, and after years of pursuing music in different directions, reconnected at a local spot in their hometown. They collaborated on several covers, turning them into duets and adding a unique spin to songs of other artists. From there, they began co-writing their own original songs, growing together in lyrics, sound, and performance. What started as two individual solo artists, has since emerged the Acoustic Folk duo of "Colin & Caroline".
Colin & Caroline's heart-warming harmonies, original lyrics, and blend of creative covers first grabbed the attention of many in Central Virginia. Several of their original songs (including "More Than Gravity", "Fireflies, and "Like Home") have been featured on popular playlists curated by Spotify, which has spread the presence of Colin & Caroline worldwide. "More Than Gravity" has received over 13 million plays since release in 2014, and it's placement in the Netflix original series "13 Reasons Why."

I thought You should know
I just want You for my own
And I'm not like You,
I hate to be alone
Cause with You (.) always feels like home.
Let's cross the mountains,
escape to the unknown.
Cause with you (.) always feels like home.
I can't like You
I thought You should know
I just want You for my own
Cause with you (.) always feels like home.
The lyrics of "Like Home" by Colin & Caroline create a sense of yearning for companionship and connectivity. The beginning of the lyrics, "I can't like you, I thought you should know," is honest in its approach to the subject of relationships. The singer then goes on to explain that they want this person for their own, emphasizing their desire for ownership over an emotional connection.
The lines, "And I'm not like you, I hate to be alone. Cause with you always feels like home," suggest that the singer is not like the person they are addressing. They crave stability and a sense of being grounded, which they feel when they are with this other person. The lyrics, "Let's cross the mountains, escape to the unknown," suggest a desire to escape from their current reality, perhaps in an attempt to find a new, better one with the person they are addressing.
The final lines of the song, "Will we get married cause with you always feels like home," bring a sense of finality to the song. The singer wants to commit to this person, suggesting a level of comfort and familiarity that allows them to feel as if they are home. Overall, "Like Home" is a song that captures the yearning for connection and stability that many of us crave in relationships.
