Raye first attracted Nashville's attention as the lead vocalist on a string of independent singles in the 1980s. Billed as The Wrays, the act released a couple of singles on Mercury Records in the mid-80s before breaking up. Epic Records signed Raye as a solo act in 1990. A year later, the nostalgic ballad Love, Me hit No. 1, and by 2000, he charted 21 Top 10 hits for Epic. His first four studio albums, as well as his Greatest Hits, have been certified platinum. His best-known hits include Little Rock, about a recovering alcoholic, and I Think About You, about watching his teenage daughter grow up.
Stuck In The Middle With You

I got the feelin' that somethin' ain't right
So scared in case I fall off my chair
And I'm wonderin' how I'll get down the stairs
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with you
It's so hard to keep this smile from my face
Losin' control, yeah, I'm all over the place
There's clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Well, you started out with nothin'
And you're proud that you're a self-made man
And your friends, they all come crawlin'
Slap you on the back and say, "Please, please"
Tryin' to make some sense of it all
But I can see, it makes no sense at all
Is it cool to go to sleep on the floor?
'Cause I don't think that I can take anymore
Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Well, you started out with nothing
And you're proud that you're a self-made man
And your friends, they all come crawlin'
Slap you on the back and say, "Please, please, please"
Well, I don't know why I came here tonight
I got the feelin' that somethin' ain't right
I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair
And I'm wonderin' how I'll get down the stairs
There's clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Here I am, stuck in the middle with you
Stuck in the middle with you
Yes, I'm stuck in the middle with you
Stuck in the middle with you
Stuck in the middle with you
The song "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Collin Raye is a cover of the original song by Stealers Wheel. In the song, the singer expresses his discomfort and uneasiness being in a situation where he feels trapped between two groups of people who he views as clowns and jokers. The repetitive use of the phrase "stuck in the middle with you" conveys a feeling of being trapped and unable to escape the situation.
The first two verses indicate that the singer is frightened and confused, unsure of what to do in the situation. He uses the metaphor of clowns and jokers to describe the people around him, which could be interpreted as a commentary on their lack of seriousness or sincerity. In the chorus, he repeats that he is "stuck in the middle with you" which emphasizes his feeling of being caught in the middle of something he doesn't want to be part of.
The third verse explores the idea of success and the pressure that comes with it. The singer describes a self-made man who has become successful and attracts friends who only come around for the benefits that his success provides. The fourth verse brings us back to the singer's feelings of confusion, unsure of how to make sense of the situation surrounding him.
Overall, "Stuck in the Middle With You" is a song about feeling trapped, uncertain, and uncomfortable in a situation. Through its use of metaphors and repetition, the song conveys the feeling of being stuck in the middle with no way out.
