Originally from Detroit, Michigan, the six original members were Keith Staten, Fred Hammond, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Brooks, and Michael Williams. In 1991 Staten and Brooks left the group and were replaced by Marvin Sapp, Maxx Frank, and Eddie Howard, Jr.. By 1994 Howard had left the group and Williams left a year later. Hammond also left to pursue a career with the group Radical For Christ. He was replaced by Montrell Darrett. By 2000, Marcus Cole and Chris Poole had taken the place of Sapp and Darrett on the group's last studio album. In 2002 Commissioned released a reunion album which brought back most of the group's former members and featured most of its greatest hits. The group performed live on stage during the 2002 Stellar Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
(2) An urban Black gospel band with crossover appeal, Commissioned are an extremely evangelistic group in concert who put on such a dramatic show that the altars are routinely packed with repenters following their performances. Members Fred Hammond, Keith Staten, Michael Brooks and Marvin Sapp have all done many successful solo projects as well. They spent most of the '90s pursuing those careers, but found themselves back together in 2001 for a reunion tour and the first of another successful series of albums. ~ Bil Carpenter, Rovi
At The Point Of Your Need
Commissioned Lyrics

Why do you fear your enemies
You worry day and night
And your so afraid to fight
You say thereโฒs nothing you can do
For they all outnumber you
You Fell you have no power
They say your soul they must devour
If God is for us
Who can be against us
The world against us
Is less than none, none
If God is for us
It's His power now you know
That defeated every foe
With hands both left and right
More than a million put to flight
In the heart of your enemies
They face the cruel reality
That your trust in His might
And for you Heโฒs gonna fight
In your weakness He is strong
If God is for us
Who can be against us
The world against us
Is less than none, none
If God is for us
Who would dare fight against
A God that has all power
Whoever would be so unwise
Their very lives they do not cherish
Yes God is for us
Yes God is for us
He is more than the world against
If God is for
Who can be against us
The world against us
Is less than none, less than none
If God is for us
The lyrics in "At The Point Of Your Need" by Commissioned speak to the notion of fear and weakness, especially in the face of enemies. The song starts with a question directed at a brother, inquiring about why he fears his enemies despite having God on his side. The lyrics try to reassure him that he should not succumb to this fear and instead trust in God's power to overcome any adversary. The song suggests that relying on God's power and might is the only way to defeat the enemy and succeed in any challenge.
The lyrics then go on to emphasize that God's power defeated every foe and that this same power should instill hope in the hearts of those who trust in it. The words used in the song paint a picture of a struggle between the weak and the strong, but with God's presence, the weak are strong. The song reiterates that if God is on our side, nothing can be against us, even if the whole world decides to come against us because God's power supersedes all. The chorus of the song is a reminder of this idea stated simply but effectively, "If God is for us, who can be against us?"
Overall, the message conveyed in the song is one of hope and trust in God's power, especially when faced with difficulties or challenges. The song encourages the listener not to give up, succumb to fear, or rely on their own strength, but instead trust in God's power, goodness and might.
