Originally from Detroit, Michigan, the six original members were Keith Staten, Fred Hammond, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Brooks, and Michael Williams. In 1991 Staten and Brooks left the group and were replaced by Marvin Sapp, Maxx Frank, and Eddie Howard, Jr.. By 1994 Howard had left the group and Williams left a year later. Hammond also left to pursue a career with the group Radical For Christ. He was replaced by Montrell Darrett. By 2000, Marcus Cole and Chris Poole had taken the place of Sapp and Darrett on the group's last studio album. In 2002 Commissioned released a reunion album which brought back most of the group's former members and featured most of its greatest hits. The group performed live on stage during the 2002 Stellar Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
(2) An urban Black gospel band with crossover appeal, Commissioned are an extremely evangelistic group in concert who put on such a dramatic show that the altars are routinely packed with repenters following their performances. Members Fred Hammond, Keith Staten, Michael Brooks and Marvin Sapp have all done many successful solo projects as well. They spent most of the '90s pursuing those careers, but found themselves back together in 2001 for a reunion tour and the first of another successful series of albums. ~ Bil Carpenter, Rovi
Crucified With Christ

When you don't feel strong hey
I got an answer for you
There's a way that's light and easy, it's true
He knows when you fall, So get up and go on
And I want you to know that you don't have to go all alone
Even with tears in your eyes
Count it all joy until the time
Until you make it through the storm
Turn from your past say goodbye
Remember you were crucified with Christ
You were crucified with Christ
Yea oh yea, so let the weak say I'm strong, yea yea
So read the word renew your mind oh, oh When they tried to remind you
The road you use to travel
Can be a distant memory, You decide
The wind and the waves, Stare you in the face
Put on your armor, And don't run away
I know that Jesus is there
So just cast all your care, It will be alright
And when you know you got a weakness
He will be strong, On that day you will say
You belong in the presence of the Lord
So let Him reign, let Him reign, let Him reign in your heart, in your heart
[Chorus]
Commissioned's song "Crucified With Christ" is a message of encouragement and hope to those who feel weak and vulnerable due to life's challenges. The song encourages listeners to turn towards Jesus Christ, who understands their struggles and can provide strength and guidance. The lyrics acknowledge that life's storms can be overwhelming and cause tears, but they encourage listeners to "count it all joy" and remember that they were also "crucified with Christ," giving them a sense of belonging and purpose.
The chorus encourages listeners to hold on and trust in Jesus, even in the midst of difficulties, and to renew their minds with the word of God. The lyrics recognize that the road that was once traveled can become a distant memory, but it's up to the individual to decide to let go of the past and move forward. The song encourages listeners to put on their armor and not run away from life's challenges, knowing that Jesus is with them every step of the way.

You can always count on Commissioned to back up their music with a scripture. That's what I love about them and their music. No only that these Brothers can sing. Thanks Commissioned for such wonderful music!
