Originally from Detroit, Michigan, the six original members were Keith Staten, Fred Hammond, Mitchell Jones, Karl Reid, Michael Brooks, and Michael Williams. In 1991 Staten and Brooks left the group and were replaced by Marvin Sapp, Maxx Frank, and Eddie Howard, Jr.. By 1994 Howard had left the group and Williams left a year later. Hammond also left to pursue a career with the group Radical For Christ. He was replaced by Montrell Darrett. By 2000, Marcus Cole and Chris Poole had taken the place of Sapp and Darrett on the group's last studio album. In 2002 Commissioned released a reunion album which brought back most of the group's former members and featured most of its greatest hits. The group performed live on stage during the 2002 Stellar Awards in Atlanta, Georgia.
(2) An urban Black gospel band with crossover appeal, Commissioned are an extremely evangelistic group in concert who put on such a dramatic show that the altars are routinely packed with repenters following their performances. Members Fred Hammond, Keith Staten, Michael Brooks and Marvin Sapp have all done many successful solo projects as well. They spent most of the '90s pursuing those careers, but found themselves back together in 2001 for a reunion tour and the first of another successful series of albums. ~ Bil Carpenter, Rovi
No More Loneliness
Commissioned Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Though I know you love me and you still care
I must confess that nevertheless, there is loneliness
Even in the morning we may get a little weary
But let the weak say I'm strong
In the power of this might go wrong
Though you may feel yet instilled
You are not alone
CHORUS
There's a voice singing low I hear him say
I can hear him say
No(no) I am with you always daughter
Just begin your day, hey that's okay
But the sun, sun's on the way
Jesus said trust me I have never failed you
So don't you worry
This loneliness shouldn't be
I'll extend you my mercy
Replace the loneliness and give you joy and happiness
Oh joy, and happiness (yeah)
CHORUS
There's a voice singing low I hear him say
I can hear him say
No(no) I am with you always daughter
Just begin your day, hey that's okay
But the sun, sun's on the way
Put your trust in me
You will find that you'll never be lonely
Put your trust in me
And I guarantee
That you'll never, never be lonely
I'm never gonna leave ya, I'm right beside ya
Never gonna leave you lonely
Put your trust in me, you'll never be
I guarantee that you'll never be lonely
Lemme guarantee you know you'll never have to be lonely
Yeah, lonely, yeah, lonely
No more loneliness, Jesus gave you joy
No more sing it no more
No more loneliness, Jesus gave you joy
No more sing it no more
No more loneliness, Jesus gave you joy
No more sing it no more
No more loneliness, Jesus gave you joy
No more sing it no more
No more loneliness, Jesus gave you joy
Lemme guarantee you know you'll never have to be lonely
Yeah, lonely, yeah, lonely
The lyrics of Commissioned's song "No More Loneliness" express the feeling of loneliness that even the faithful can sometimes experience. The singer confesses that despite knowing that God loves and cares for them, loneliness can still creep in. However, the lyrics offer hope that even in the midst of weariness and weakness, the power of God can replace loneliness with joy and happiness. The chorus repeats the message of God's presence and faithfulness. The voice that the singer hears is that of Jesus telling them to trust and not worry because He will never leave them alone. The lyrics express the guarantee that those who put their trust in Jesus will find that they never have to be lonely.
