Venus
Compagnons De La Chanson (Les) Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hey, Venus, oh, Venus
Venus, if you will
Please send a little girl for me to thrill
A girl who wants my kisses and my arms
A girl with all the charms of you

Venus, make her fair
A lovely girl with sunlight in her hair
And take the brightest stars up in the skies
And place them in her eyes for me

Venus, goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be too great a task

Venus, if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live

Venus, goddess of love that you are
Surely the things I ask
Can't be too great a task

Venus, if you do
I promise that I always will be true
I'll give her all the love I have to give
As long as we both shall live

Hey, Venus, oh, Venus
Make my wish come true

Overall Meaning

The song "Venus" by Les Compagnons de la Chanson is a plea to the Roman goddess of love to send the singer a girl to love. The first verse sets the stage for the singer's request - he asks Venus to send him a girl who wants his love and affection, someone who possesses all the charms that Venus herself embodies. The second verse continues with the plea, asking Venus to make this girl fair and lovely, with a bright and shining personality that is reminiscent of the stars in the sky. The chorus repeats the request, with the singer promising to be faithful and to love this girl for as long as they both shall live.

The song can be seen as an expression of the universal desire for love and companionship, and the use of Venus as a symbol adds a layer of mythology and romance. The singer's desire to find someone to love and to be loved by is something that many people can relate to, and the use of Venus as a symbol of that desire adds a timeless quality to the song.

Overall, "Venus" is a simple but powerful plea for love and connection, expressed through the lens of ancient mythology. The song has a dreamy quality to it, reflecting the singer's hope and longing for the perfect girl to share his life with.
