Laundry Bag
Connie Kaldor Lyrics

Odd socks, new socks in the laundry bag
There are stretchy socks, white socks
A bunch of left and right socks
In the laundry bag
And if you put your ear to the bag
You can hear them say
And wash this dirt away
There were red shirts, white shirts
Even got a night shirt in the laundry bag
There were plain shirts, checked shirts
Ripped and kind of wrecked shirts in the laundry bag
There were plain pants, party pants
Even got some smarty pants in the laundry bag
There were old jeans, new jeans
Tina’s favourite blue jeans in the laundry bag
There were dishtowels, place mats
Crazy Martian space hats in the laundry bag
There were leotards and tutus
Even a pair of running shoes in the laundry bag
There’s everything that I’ve worn for a month or so
In the laundry bag
Connie Kaldor's song "Laundry Bag" describes the process of doing laundry and the variety of items that end up in the laundry bag. The song lists the many different types of socks, shirts, pants, and other garments that are thrown in together to be washed. The singer even mentions some comical items, like a crazy Martian space hat and a pair of running shoes. Through the song, the laundry bag becomes a symbol for the jumbled mess of everyday life, with all of its odd and mismatched pieces that are in need of a good scrubbing.
Despite the chaos of the laundry bag, the singer finds comfort in the routine of washing and folding. She imagines the items in the bag talking and asking to be cleaned, "Give me some water, give me some soap / And wash this dirt away." By taking care of these everyday tasks, the singer finds a sense of order and stability in her life.
Overall, "Laundry Bag" is a lighthearted and relatable celebration of the mundane tasks that make up our daily lives. It shows how even something as simple as washing a load of laundry can be a source of comfort and routine.
