False Alarm
Connor Price Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Try to get me in a room, yeah
Everybody want to talk, why
Always coming with the tunes
They know I'm a take it far, right
Something I already knew, yeah
Never needed your applause, nah
They been saying it's a fluke
This is not a false alarm
It's not

Did it and I never sold my soul
Devil never gonna hold me close
You can put that on the Holy Ghost
I'm a night owl like I'm OVO
Hit a dance with it like a do-si-do
No this is not my first rodeo
No luck needed no four leaf clove
Yes I know I look like Cody Ko
Content lit so the YouTube pays us
Nintendo I don't do 2k just
Sweet sixteens I don't do soufflé but
Rich in taste with a few tooth aches
Look, lemme take them all back, back
Fit a whole studio in a backpack
Little kid in the back with the black cap
Making hits in the class like Jack Black did
That's passion
I ain't sleeping I'm back at it
Young and Restless, Jack Abbot
Been in Vegas rat packing
Still never spent a dollar up at the casino
I still gamble on me though
They underestimate me so
I'm a wolf dressing in sheep's clothing
I been on my way
Switching in and out of lanes
Keeping track of what I make
Everybody want to take

Try to get me in a room, yeah
Everybody want to talk, why
Always coming with the tunes
They know I'm a take it far, right
Something I already knew, yeah
Never needed your applause, nah
They been saying it's a fluke
This is not a false alarm
It's not

This is not a false alarm
Latin America raising the bar
Tão dizendo que eu mudei, hm
Acho pior eu ficar no lugar
Tight crew, we come out in the dark
White shoes, while I pick them apart
I'm from a city that really don't play
Eu não sou gringo não vim me vingar
Eu vim me vinga
De todo mundo que me duvidava
Eu cresci sozinho não te devo nada
Essa caneta é arma
E ela nunca trava
Sempre fui assim
E Todos nem ligavam
Mas agora ligam
Vão fazer o que
Um brasileiro na tua TV
Still got accolades I gotta get
And I won't stop until my country's set like
Eles duvidam da gente
A gente trampa o dia inteiro
Eles derrubam a gente
E levantamo ali mesmo
Parece que não aprendem
É um pais de guerreiros
Mas isso não nos surpreende
Eu amo ser brasileiro
I been on my way
Switching in and out of lanes
Keeping track of what I make
Everybody want to take

Try to get me in a room, yeah
Everybody want to talk, why
Always coming with the tunes
They know I'm a take it far, right
Something I already knew, yeah
Never needed your applause, nah
They been saying it's a fluke

This is not a false alarm
It's not

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Connor Price's song False Alarm seem to be a testament to his hard work and determination to succeed in the music industry. He acknowledges that people constantly try to get him in a room to talk and offer their opinions, but he knows that he's capable of taking it far on his own. He confidently states that he's done it before and he never had to sell his soul to get there. He also mentions that he's been underestimated in the past and that people have said that his success is a fluke, but he's not deterred by their opinions. He's passionate about what he does and he's determined to make it to the top, despite any doubts or naysayers.

The second verse of the song features a guest verse from a Brazilian artist who raps in Portuguese. The lyrics in this verse seem to echo the same sentiments as Connor Price's verse - the artist is confident in his abilities and proud of his roots. He mentions that people doubt him and try to hold him back, but he's determined to succeed and show them that he's worth believing in.

Overall, the song False Alarm is an inspiring message about pursuing your dreams and not letting anyone hold you back. The upbeat rhythm and catchy lyrics make it a fun and empowering song to listen to.

Tight crew, we come out in the dark
White shoes, while I pick em apart

E ela nunca trava (and it never jams)

Still got accolades I gotta get
And I won’t rest until my country’s set like

Eles duvidam da gente (They doubt us)
A gente trampa o dia inteiro (And we keep working all day)
Eles derrubam a gente (They tear us down)
E levantamo ali mesmo (and we get up right away)

Parece que não aprendem (It seems like they never learn)
É um pais de guerreiros (This is a country of warriors)

Mas isso não nos surprende (but that doesn't surprise us)

In Connor’s verse when he used “like Jack Black did” as a transition to rhyme with the sections before and after might be one of the most brilliant things I’ve ever heard in hip-hop.

“Jack Black” rhyming/half rhyming with “back, back,” “backpack,” “back,” “black cap,” “class”

Then he throws in the word “did” to smoothly transition to the next section.

“Jack Black did” rhyming/half rhyming with “that’s passion,” “back at it,” “Jack Abbott,” “rat packin.”

Just brilliant. Bravo.
