We're hanging in the living room
Our feet up on the couch alone, at last
And it feels good
When I'm gone
I wonder what's going on
In this room without me, in this house, this neighborhood
I found a picture of you and me before we met
But if you asked me then where I'd be now
Could I have told you I'd be in your house
If you asked me anything at all
Would I have fallen
Fallen
Out on Lansdowne Street
My brother and his bride asked me
To come out to the show, they had some extra tickets
And when you showed up
I really didn't say that much
I was living with my girlfriend, yes, I should have mentioned that
Later on our way, down the subway station steps
Taking different lines, we just waved goodbye and left
But if I asked you then where you'd be now
Could you have told me you'd be in this house
If I asked you anything at all
Would you have fallen
Fallen
Fallen
Hard I know
Love is like a rabbit hole
Spend an awful lot of time, just trying to find our way back here
Right where we are
Just hanging in the living room
Our feet up on the couch, alone at last, and it feels
Yeah, it feels
Good
Good
Good
If you asked me then where I'd be now
If I asked you then where you'd be now
Would you have fallen
Fallen
Would I have fallen
Fallen
"Rooms" by Controller.Controller is a song that explores the dynamics of relationships and the passage of time. The singer reflects on being back home and hanging out in the living room, finally feeling at ease and content. However, when they are away from home, they wonder what is happening in the same room without them. Through these reflections, the song delves into the complexities of love and how it can shape our lives.
The lyrics mention finding a picture of the singer and their partner before they met, highlighting the unknown paths they would eventually take to end up together in their current house. It raises the question of whether they could have predicted their future and if they would have anticipated this connection. Similarly, the singer recalls a moment when they ran into someone they had a previous connection with, but didn't mention they were in a relationship. This moment reveals the unpredictable nature of life and how circumstances can change without warning.
The song concludes with the realization that love can be both challenging and rewarding, comparing it to a rabbit hole that requires effort to navigate. Despite the difficulties, the singer appreciates the present moment of being together in the living room. The repetition of "fallen" suggests that both parties have taken risks, made choices, and ultimately ended up where they are, embracing the journey.
