The French lyrics of Corduroy's song New Seeker speak about a love lost situation. The singer seems to be informing the listener about the end of a relationship with someone who was not in love with them. The song describes a woman who is getting ready to go out, applying makeup while holding a glass of wine, and wondering if the singer is really the one for her. However, the singer, who identifies themself as a crow, brusquely tells them that they are not who she wants which leads to the conclusion that she doesn't love the singer. The verse "Ciao bella" is a farewell, making it clear that this is the end of their relationship.
The chorus of the song questions the listener's attachment and longing for the woman. The singer suggests that despite all the mistreatment they received from her, the listener is still pining after her. They liken their relationship to that of a stranger asking for a light, which she only briefly entertains before moving on. In this context, the flame could be a metaphor for their relationship, which she briefly engages with before ultimately leaving. The lyrics also describe the listener as inhaling the smoke that she exhales, which could represent the toxic relationship they had with her. The chorus emphasizes the fact that she doesn't love the listener anymore, and it's time to move on.
Overall, "New Seeker" is a cautionary tale of a relationship that has come to an end. The singer encourages the listener to let go of someone who was never really invested in the relationship. Through descriptive verses and a catchy chorus, the song delivers an earnest message about the importance of recognizing when a relationship is over.
