Velvet
Corn Wave Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The first stanza of Corn Wave's song Velvet is sung in Russian and translates to English as follows: "Deep under the exhausted gaze, one can see a hundred pioneer squads. Echoes of the inflicted life, in the purple national-bolshevik fascism. Far beyond the crystal eye sockets, the desire to drink oneself away is exhausting. And in the guitar noise dissolving, I am not surprised by all my dreams."

The lyrics capture a sense of despair and disillusionment with the world around us. The exhaustion in the "exhausted gaze" and the desire to escape reality through alcohol are universal emotions that many can relate to. The reference to "national-bolshevik fascism" is likely a commentary on the rise of nationalist movements in many parts of the world and the potential dangers they pose.

The second stanza suggests a sense of resignation and acceptance of one's circumstances. The singer seems to find solace in the sounds of the guitar, using it as a way to forget about the harsh realities of life and escape into their dreams.
