What Is Love
Corona Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Corona’s song “What Is Love” seem to be about the confusion and motivation associated with love. The first few lines describe how the singer is not used to believing things before they are said, implying that they are not used to being in a trusting and honest relationship. However, despite this discomfort, the singer is willing to take back their distrustful ways and try to trust their partner more. The next few lines are more uncertain, questioning whether the relationship is worth the fights and difficulties that come with it. The singer describes waiting for years for this love, but also expresses envy towards others who may have an easier time with their relationships. Overall, the verse seems to be expressing conflicting emotions about love - on one hand, a desire for a strong, unbreakable love, and on the other, confusion and anxiety about what that love truly means.
The chorus of the song reinforces the theme of strong, unbreakable love. The repetition of “what a love” sounds almost like a mantra, emphasizing the singer’s admiration for this elusive ideal. The line “one love which you could never give up” implies that there is only one love worth having, and that it is something that requires a lot of commitment and dedication. The final line of the chorus, “take a bow i think you've worked this one out,” seems to suggest that the singer has come to a realization about their love, perhaps that it is worth the struggles and difficulties that come with it.
