A young, ambitious and gifted group of musicians, Cosmos’ fame is spreading contagiously overseas as they perform their important role of representing Latvia as a truly musical nation and at the same time satisfy their desire to introduce themselves to yet wider audiences. Drawing on profound European musical traditions, Cosmos enthusiastically put their academic music background to work as they explore the almost unlimited possibilities of the human voice – nature’s most incredible musical instrument.
To consolidate the ongoing evolution of their musical education, Cosmos devote much time to workshops with the world’s leading a cappella music professionals such as The Hilliard Ensemble, Take 6, The Real Group, The New York Voices, The Flying Pickets and M-Pact.

Blackbird
Cosmos Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn how to see
All your life
Blackbird Fly
Blackbird Fly
Into the light of the dark black night
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
The lyrics of Cosmos's song "Blackbird" are a metaphorical representation of the quest for freedom and liberation. The "blackbird" is symbolic of the human soul that is trapped and struggling to be free. The opening line "Blackbird singing in the dead of night" depicts the struggles of this trapped soul in the darkness, waiting for an opportunity to break free.
The second line of the verse "Take these broken wings and learn to fly" represents the journey towards healing and discovery. The broken wings signify the wounds and scars that accumulate over time, and the learning process of flying refers to the journey towards self-discovery and growth. The lyrics "All your life, you were only waiting for this moment to arise" suggest that liberation is not an event but a process, and everything that happens in life – good or bad – leads to this moment of rising.
The chorus of the song is a repetition of the first verse but with the addition of a new line "Blackbird Fly, Into the light of the dark black night." The line represents the fear and uncertainty that comes with freedom but brings hope and the possibility of new beginnings.
Overall, "Blackbird" is a powerful song that speaks to the struggles of the human soul and highlights the journey towards personal growth and liberation.
