Stand By Me
Countdown Singers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes it's hard to be a woman
giving all your love to just one man.
You'll have bad times
And he'll have good times,
Doin' things that you don't understand.

But if you love him you'll forgive him,
even though he's hard to understand.
And if you love him Oh be proud of him,
'Cause after all he's just a man.

Stand By Your Man,
Give him two arms to cling to,
And something warm to come to
when nights are cold and lonely.

Stand By Your Man,
And tell the world you love him.
Giving all the love you can.
Stand By Your Man.

Stand By Your Man,

And show the world you love him.
Keep giving all the love you can;

Overall Meaning

"Stand By Me" is a song originally written and recorded by American singer-songwriter Ben E. King in 1961. The song is a simple plea to stand by and support someone through their trials and tribulations. The Countdown Singers' version of the song features modified lyrics, in which the singer presents the struggles of being a woman in a relationship with a man.

The opening lines of the song "Sometimes it's hard to be a woman/giving all your love to just one man" speak to the conflicting roles and expectations placed on women in relationships, where they are expected to give all their love to one man but are often met with misunderstandings and difficult times. The chorus then implores women to stand by their men and offer them support and love in both good and bad times.

The lyrics showcase the importance of forgiveness, understanding, and standing by one's partner. The song aims to remind women that even though the man in their life may be imperfect and difficult to understand, if they truly love him, they should support him and be proud of him. The song can be seen as a call to maintain relationships during difficult times, offering support and strength to one another.

Stand By Me will always remain as one of the most well remembered iconic films from the 80's and beyond, RIP River Phoenix.

i kind of hate the count down of where are they now . River Phenix is a total tragedy, dead at 23 . Wil Wheaton is a success story . Cory Feldman got compared to the other Corey . Sick sad world , they were all perfect in "Stand by Me" . It was such a good a good movie because the director fleshed it out so well . the screenwriter took a short story and turned it into a full length movie . Cudos

This ending really hits hard. Chris was the only one to die and so was River.

ButterflyQueene07

Sounds prophetic, doesn't it?

comfy_kruczek

In the book, Gordie was the only one that did not die
