That's what makes it such an intimate part of our lives. It's just a show, sure but it plays out realistically, is no stranger to disappointment but there's always a silver lining: persevering to the next bounty. You become invested in the characters and their lives and when the show ends you feel like you've lost loved ones. Don't even get me started on the musical genius of the show. Cowboy Bebop is by far one of my favorites and will be no matter how many times I watch it.

This song means a lot to me on so many different scales. Being the background music of the scene where Jet was officially letting of his ex-girlfriend literally showcases a whole new meaning to the music.
Also another thing as to why this is probably my most favourite piece of art out of the entire Cowboy Bebop soundtrack: my close friends usually call me Zizi, so just to see a gem like this song being named after me is truly significant for me.

I didn’t know my aunts real name till I was six, because we always called her Zizi, a name of auntly adoration in italian. Ive never seen this show before, but I was on the playground swing listening to sombre music while grieving for Zizi, because she was like a second mom to me and she had passed on. I usually let my recommended autoplay and it usually plays all my music just fine, but a foreign song came on and no it wasn’t my usual but I was too lost in memory to care, and the song was wonderful and sad just like I liked music. Just how I needed for this occasion. I stopped playing on the swing as the song came to a close, and when I went to return to my music, I was on this video and I read the title. I smiled like hell then, but I’m crying now, as I write this months later.

In that way the steady flow of time can be a comfort if you can learn to think about it the right way. If you're nervous about something there's nothing you can do to avoid facing it. I wrote a two thousand word story to this in my Honor's English class. The limit was 500 words, but when i listened to this emotional track from one of mt\y favorite anime's, it brought me enough emotion to write it. I got an A- because I went past the limit, but my teacher told me I could be a great writer someday if I tried hard enough. Because of that, sometimes when I get home from work, I listen to this and write a little bit to bring back some of my high school years, and how I thought it sucked, even though they were the best years of my life.

This theme and "Space Lion" share an uncanny bond:
Waltz for Zizi is a peaceful, idyllic theme, and yet there is something ominously sad about it. As if all this peacefulness is forced - just to avoid the underlying sadness and heaviness.
Space Lion on the other hand is completely reverese: it is heavy with sad, long, depressing sounds and overall it's a tear-inducing theme; however one cannot notice that in its core, Space Lion is inherently a happy tune, happiness is coming from release of burden that is the past.

This song helps me whenever i feel like i cant continue through a hard moment where my past catches up to me. It shows that everyone has their past, and no matter what it is, it always be there. Its up to the character to come to terms with it and accept what happened. I feel like that's the structure this song follows, someone who's living their normal life, then memories and shadows of their past starts appearing, whether its good or bad. The character struggles to deal with this, going through so many emotions trying to settle through these emotions. Funny thing about this song,
My ex was asleep in the apartment I owned with no furniture but the bed in the living room. I came home from my late shift around 1am. I started cooking our favorite dish of tortellini and sautéed chicken with Alfredo sauce and she woke up to the noise. This song was on Bluetooth in the home and a soft glow of the kitchen light upon her face as she smiled up at me serving her a bowl with a warm “Morning princess, you hungry?”
She scooted up in bed and took her bowl with a simple comment in a sweet voice. “Yummy!” And we ate next to each other with this on repeat until she fell back asleep on my shoulder, me stroking her long brunette hair in my fingers like a harp the music.
She won’t remember that as well as I do, but it was a special moment to me.

I’m upset that anime these days just never measure up to the quality that Bebop produced. The art, the story, the sound... it’s upsetting.. to realize that an anime from the late 90’s made such a bigger impact than any of the recent anime’s I’ve been watching lately. I’m carrying the hell out of that weight.

The scene where Jet tosses the watch into the river is probably my favorite scene with this song in it. That scene really meant a lot to me and had a feel to it...
The fact that Jet was able to get over his past by tossing away the watch and moving on is something I have a hard time doing. I hope one day I can just move and just stop thinking about the bad things that happened in the past... :(
