FADE IN:
see-G-C(sus4)-G-see

F-C(sus4)-G(sus4)-C(sus4)
Well I've been up to Pa-G-ris, and I've slept in a see park.
Went down to Barce-G-lona, someone broke in my see car
And I'll search the world F over for my angel in C(sus4) black.
Yeah, I'll search the world G over for a Euro-trash C(sus4) Girl.

Took the train down to Athens, and I slept in a fountain.
Some Swiss junkie in Turin, ripped me off for my cash.
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

The CRS on the metro shook me down for a bribe.
On my knees for the sergeant when my passport arrived.
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash Girl
Euro-trash Girl, Euro-trash Girl
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

Called my mom from a payphone, I said "I'm down to my last."
She said "I sent you to college, now go call your dad."
And the waitress that he married, well she hung up the phone.
You know she never did like me, but I can stand on my own.

Sold my plasma in Amsterdam: spent it all in a night
Buying drinks at the Melk Weg for a soldier in drag.
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

Euro-trash Girl
my Euro-trash Girl
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

Solo Johnny
G-see-G-see
F-see-G-see

Got a tattoo in Berlin and a case of the crabs.
A rose and a dagger on the palm of my hand.
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl

Euro-trash Girl
my Euro-trash Girl
Yeah, I'll search the world over for my angel in black.
Yeah, search the world over for a Euro-trash Girl.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Cracker's song "Euro-Trash Girl" depict the travels and misadventures of a protagonist as they search for their "angel in black," or their idealized love interest, who is described as a "Euro-trash Girl." The song recounts the singer's experiences in different European cities, from sleeping in a park in Paris to getting ripped off by a Swiss junkie in Turin. Along the way, they encounter corruption, poverty, and even contract a venereal disease. Despite these challenges, the singer remains determined to find their "angel in black," even as they come to the realization that the pursuit may be futile.

The song can be interpreted as a commentary on the romanticism and naivety of American youth who travel to Europe in search of adventure and a romanticized view of European culture. The lyrics suggest that this pursuit often leads to disappointment and disillusionment, as the singer confronts the harsh realities of poverty, corruption, and disease. Additionally, the depiction of the Euro-trash Girl as an idealized love interest may be seen as a commentary on the objectification of European women by American men.

30 years? Feels like yesterday. For real.

@SJ-oe5kp

I've just by accident re-discovered this after 27 yrs. 1993. 13 yrs old. I caught the tail end of this track on the radio. I frantically tried to write down who it was but wasn't in time. I've thought about it many times throughout the 26 years. Now here it is. As soon as it started to play my eyes lit up like a startled cat in head lights. Once again just like that, 27 years was gone and I was 13 again. In that bedroom, discovering my place in the world through music. I'm 40 now. Still figuring things out but one thing that's constant is Music and always will be.

@Brokeninc

I can relate. I just found it on Itunes and now I keep listening to it. I haven't heard the song since I was in middle school and it just came out.

@GoreGothSam

That's the best feeling ever. That was the same scenario for me with Soundgarden's "Pretty Noose."

@jc.1191

It was on MTV frequently. I caught it there.

I was in my 40s in the 90s and I loved the music. It was so real and original . Made me feel like being a teenager again and still does

@WaspMedia3D

90's music kicks modern music's ass so hard it can't sit down, even though it should.

I was in my 30s and I too loved it. Took me right back to the 70s. Real rock, real hair, real clothes. Hey I had a great time in the 80s, don't get me wrong, was lucky to survive them though. LOL There's great music in every decade, though. My advice to people is to never get stuck, to never quit looking for cool stuff. But I do miss the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s.
