For Once In My Life

I have someone who needs me
Someone I've needed so long
For once, unafraid
I can go where life leads me
Somehow I know I'll be strong
What my heart used to dream of
Long before I knew
Someone warm like you
Would make my dream come true
For once in my life
I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like it's hurt me before
For once I have something
I know won't desert me
I'm not alone anymore
For once I can say
"This is mine, you can't take it!"
Long as I know I have love I can make it
For once in my life I have someone who needs me
(Someone who needs me)
(Someone who needs me)
(For once in my life )
(I'm not alone anymore)
(Would make my dream come true)
For once in my life
I won't let sorrow hurt me
Not like its hurt me before
For once I have something
I know won't desert me
I'm not alone anymore (I'm not alone anymore)
For once I can say
"This is mine, you can't take it!"
Long as I know I have love I can make it
For once in my life I have someone who needs me
(Someone who needs me)
(Someone who needs me)
(Someone who needs me)
(Someone who needs me)
(Someone who needs me baby)
(Someone who needs me yeah)
(Someone who needs me baby)
(Someone who needs me yeah)
(Someone who needs me baby)
The lyrics of Craig David's song For Once In My Life are about finally finding true love and being able to trust and believe in it after experiencing heartbreak in the past. The singer sings about having someone who needs him and whom he has needed for so long, someone warm who has made his dreams come true. He is no longer afraid to go where life leads him, and he knows he will be strong with this special person by his side. He describes the feeling of being able to touch what his heart used to dream of but never thought was possible until now.
The chorus repeats the main sentiment of the song, with the singer declaring that for once in his life, he won't let sorrow hurt him anymore because he finally has something he knows won't desert him. He revels in being able to say that this is his and that no one can take it away from him, as long as he has love, he can make it through anything. The song ends with him singling out the importance of having someone who needs him, repeating the phrase "someone who needs me" several times, emphasizing the significance of reciprocated love.
Overall, For Once In My Life is a joyful celebration of finding love and being able to trust in it, after experiencing the pain of heartbreak. The song's lyrics are powerful, with Craig David's emotive delivery emphasizing the sentiment, and the instrumentation and production lending themselves to its hopeful and uplifting message.
