Craig has taken his experiences as part of the Northern California music scene for the last 15 years and used them to fuel his first ever full length solo record. This album is about the monster within him and the monster that exists inside all of us. The beast that haunts our dreams in the dark of night but that also protects us during the light of day. During the recording process Craig began to realize that the monster inside him was not a monster at all. It dawned on him that believing you have a monster inside that needs to be repressed is just a lie religion and politics tell to keep you in check. So let yourself out of yourself and allow yourself to be yourself. Say what you want, be who you really are, and do what you feel is right. It’s ok, you’re all right. Live with the consequences of your choices and only look back to see who is following you.
Craig M Clarke is a founding member of D.W. Holiday and The New Slave who has shared the stage with the likes of The Mountain Goats, The Besnard Lakes, Tobacco, Califone, Two Gallants, Film School, Scissors for Lefty, Von Iva and Loquat. Craig’s influences include XTC, Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, The Cure, Robyn Hitchcock, ELO, George Harrison, Donovan, Grandaddy, Blonde Redhead, The Smiths and Morrissey. “Life of the Party” was self-recorded, mixed and produced on an 8 Track Tascam under neon-sign light, loud trains going by and a thick, curious, but helpful fog.
