Creed is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida formed in 1994. Creed was prominent in the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, releasing three consecutive multi-platinum albums; their second, Human Clay (1999), received diamond (11x platinum) certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Creed has sold over 28 million records in the United States, has sold over 53 million albums worldwide, and was the ninth best-selling musical act of the 2000s.
For most of its existence, the band has consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed's first two studio albums, My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay (1999), were released to commercial success despite unfavorable critical reception; Marshall left the band in 2000. Human Clay remains one of the best-selling albums of all time and contained the Billboard Hot 100 number one single "With Arms Wide Open"—which also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band's third album, Weathered, was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy.
Creed reunited in 2009, releasing their fourth album Full Circle and performing several tours before separating again in 2012. After an eleven-year hiatus, Creed reunited once more in July 2023 and announced their headlining of the Summer of '99 cruise festival in April 2024.

2. Creed was formed in 1977 by vocalist Steve Ingle and guitarist Luther Maben. Enlisting the services of Hal Butler (keyboards), James Flynn (bass), and Chip Thomas (drums), they were soon signed by Asylum Records. Their self-titled debut appeared in 1978 and was notable for "Time and Time Again," an epic southern-style guitar workout, comparable in stature to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Unable to attract enough media attention, the band split up shortly after the album's release.

3. There is also a German Christian metal band called Creed. They have released at least one album called "Sign of Victory" on the Pure Metal label in 1992.

You walked away to breathe
Stopped and turned around to say goodbye to me
I'm pleading as you're leaving I'm begging you to stay
I'm not the man I used to be, I've changed
I'm not the man I used to be, I've changed
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
If my life is the price, then my life it will cost
Now that I'm picking up the pieces see the pain that I have caused
It's hard to believe in someone you thought was lost
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
Don't you walk away in silence
In tears you counted reasons
Tears covered you it seemed
Face down screaming, God help me please
I'm pleading as you're leaving I'm begging you to stay
I'm not the man I used to be, I've changed
I'm not the man I used to be, I've changed
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
If my life is the price, then my life it will cost
It will cost my life
Now that I'm picking up the pieces see the pain that I have caused
It's hard to believe in someone you thought was lost
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
Don't you walk away in silence
Please come back to me
Don't you walk away in silence
I'm not the man I used to be!
Well I pray that tomorrow you'll be home
We can rebuild and forever we can go on
Go on, and go on
We can go on, well I pray that tomorrow you'll be home
Look at horizons and let the light bring you home (home), bring you home
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
If my life is the price, then my life it will cost
It will cost my life
Now that I'm picking up the pieces see the pain that I have caused
It's hard to believe in someone you thought was lost
Don't give up on us, don't give up on love
Don't walk away in silence
Please don't walk away
Don't walk away in silence
I'm not the man I used to be!
The lyrics of Creed's song "Away in Silence" is about a man pleading to his partner not to leave him. The song starts with the partner walking away in silence to breathe but stopped and turned around to say goodbye to the man. The man then begged the partner to stay and not give up on their love. The man is aware that he has changed and is not the man he used to be, but is willing to pay the price of his life to save their love. The man then expresses his regret of the pain he has caused and is saddened that it is hard to believe in someone you thought was lost. The chorus is a repetition of not giving up on their love and not walking away in silence.
The second verse involves the partner counting reasons for leaving and screaming face down for God's help. It then ends with another plea from the man not to walk away in silence and that he is not the man he used to be. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the man praying that his partner will come back tomorrow and that they can rebuild their love and forever go on.
Some notable interpretations of the song include that it can be a reflection of lead singer Scott Stapp's personal problems at the time, including his struggles with addiction and his rocky marriage. Creed has also stated that the song was written to show that every man can change and that every relationship deserves a second chance.
