Creed is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida formed in 1994. Creed was prominent in the post-grunge movement of the late 1990s and early 2000s, releasing three consecutive multi-platinum albums; their second, Human Clay (1999), received diamond (11x platinum) certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Creed has sold over 28 million records in the United States, has sold over 53 million albums worldwide, and was the ninth best-selling musical act of the 2000s.
For most of its existence, the band has consisted of lead vocalist Scott Stapp, guitarist and vocalist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips. Creed's first two studio albums, My Own Prison (1997) and Human Clay (1999), were released to commercial success despite unfavorable critical reception; Marshall left the band in 2000. Human Clay remains one of the best-selling albums of all time and contained the Billboard Hot 100 number one single "With Arms Wide Open"—which also won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song. The band's third album, Weathered, was released in 2001, with Tremonti on bass guitar. Creed disbanded in 2004; Stapp pursued a solo career while Tremonti, Marshall, and Phillips founded the band Alter Bridge with Myles Kennedy.
Creed reunited in 2009, releasing their fourth album Full Circle and performing several tours before separating again in 2012. After an eleven-year hiatus, Creed reunited once more in July 2023 and announced their headlining of the Summer of '99 cruise festival in April 2024.

2. Creed was formed in 1977 by vocalist Steve Ingle and guitarist Luther Maben. Enlisting the services of Hal Butler (keyboards), James Flynn (bass), and Chip Thomas (drums), they were soon signed by Asylum Records. Their self-titled debut appeared in 1978 and was notable for "Time and Time Again," an epic southern-style guitar workout, comparable in stature to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Unable to attract enough media attention, the band split up shortly after the album's release.

3. There is also a German Christian metal band called Creed. They have released at least one album called "Sign of Victory" on the Pure Metal label in 1992.
Bread Of Shame
Creed Lyrics

Why should I guess your size, a choice I've been given
Tell me everything's fine and peace is coming
I won't listen to the heartache I'm numbing
When the world casts me down and says I've changed
I'll survive on all the promises you made to me
Guess there's no one to blame
Bread of shame
When the world says I've changed
Bread of shame
Just promise me fame I'll survive on the bread of shame
As long as you say I'm free
Then keep these chains off me
Tell me down is up
I'll let you fill this broken cup
When the world fall down
Let them fall on me
Cause no one's around who believe me
When the world casts me down and says I've changed
I'll survive on all the promises you made to me
Guess there's no one to blame
When all you're living on is bread of shame
Bread of shame
When the world says I've changed
Bread of shame
Just promise me fame I'll survive on the bread of shame
Tell me where I sign my name
Inside I find no peace of mind to hide behind
Only bread of shame
Tell me where I sign my name
Inside I have no peace of mind
Only bread of shame
Bread of shame
When the world says I've changed
Bread of shame
Just promise me fame I'll survive on the bread of shame
The song "Bread of Shame" by Creed is about a person who feels lost and dependent on someone who promises to give them fame and success. The lyrics suggest that the person's happiness and sense of self-worth come from external sources, rather than from within themselves. The phrase "bread of shame" refers to the idea that the person is living off of someone else's promises and is unable to support themselves. The person feels trapped and dependent, but they are willing to continue living in this way as long as they believe they will eventually achieve fame and success.
The lyrics also suggest a sense of denial and avoidance. The person is numbing the heartache they feel, refusing to listen to criticism, and ignoring the fact that they may have changed as a result of their dependence on someone else. The repetition of the phrase "just promise me fame" highlights the person's desperation to cling onto any hope of success, even if it means living on the metaphorical bread of shame.
This song is a reflection of the anxieties and fears that many people feel about their own sense of self-worth and success. The desire for validation and external success is something that is deeply ingrained in our culture, and this song captures the sense of desperation that can arise when these desires go unfulfilled.
