Nausea
Crimes Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Young bodies can't fill full sized graves?
Shine bright through dismay
When I thought everything was ending.....
When you passed by,
I passed out.
Forgetting every word that came out.
Who are you to say
Young bodies can't fill full sized graves?
Shine bright through dismay
When I thought everything was ending.....
The opening lines of Crimes's song "Nausea" convey a sense of defiance and challenge to conventional wisdom. The singer questions the notion that young people cannot die and be buried in full-sized graves. The phrase "young bodies" implies youthfulness and the idea that the world is not yet ready to lose young lives. The singer's intention here is to reject this notion and assert that mortality does not discriminate based on age.
The second and third lines "Shine bright through dismay, When I thought everything was ending" are somewhat ambiguously worded, but they convey a sense of hope and resilience in the face of hardship. The phrase "shine bright" suggests that the subject of the song is a source of light in a dark and difficult situation, guiding the singer through feelings of dismay and despair. The line "when I thought everything was ending" refers to a moment of crisis or hardship in the singer's life, which the subject of the song helped them through.
The second verse of the song focuses on the singer's relationship with the subject of the song. The lines "When you passed by, I passed out. Forgetting every word that came out" paint a picture of the singer being overcome with emotions at the sight of the subject. The unexpected nature of their encounter causes the singer to feel overwhelmed and forgetful, unable to articulate their thoughts or feelings. The final line of the verse "If I only knew that I could see your face" suggests that the singer is longing for more time with the subject, wishing they had known that they would have this encounter so they could have prepared themselves emotionally.

5:38 The proto-blastbeat! A true marvel of musical extremism. Really glad these guys exist.
While this is not the origin of the blastbeat per se, the drummer of this band coined the term, already with their former band Majesty in 1985 (distinct mostly in name).
Uh, no, I dunno why i wrote this here. I just learned it and kinda wanted to share.
