Millions of classrooms across America and across the world USED TO BE EXACTLY LIKE THAT.
I went to a school in a different country where ALL the classrooms were exactly like that. I don't know when things got so disrespectful, rude and boisterous in America, but they certainly have.
• Maybe it started when children started having children and then we have child-like parents going into the schools and behaving like thugs.
• Look at what is happening in some states where parents are attacking school administrators and governors because they do not want their children wearing masks.
• Maybe it started when America removed mental health programs from neighborhood community clinics.
• Jane Elliot is the epitome of what a real educator should be then and now.
• Unfortunately, today, teachers have to be afraid of the students and their parents.
• Teachers have to spend more time placating than teaching students. It is a sad state of affairs for everyone and the entire country is the worse off for it.
• JANE ELLIOT SHOULD BE THE BEACON, THE REMINDER IN AMERICA OF WHAT IS POSSIBLE IN OUR SCHOOLS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A YEARNING FOR THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS IN USA. YES, DAYS WHEN TEACHERS WERE IN CHARGE OF THEIR CLASSROOMS.

Very thought provoking, I feel it should be taught in our schools

Nelley Jelly

Right. I was thinking would this be considered Critical Race Theory?

I agree with you Tim. That program activity was first done in April 1968. Sadly, it is still needed and equally relevant in Americ in 2020. Please browse our channel to see some of our other video programs and discussions with high school students from the Greater New Haven area. Peace

I've always loved how calm and orderly this classroom was. The children were not yelling at or disrespectful to the teacher. They were able to calmly discuss the fight on the playground. (No sending children to the principals office, etc.)

Her brilliance is so spot on it makes me cry.

What a brillant experiment. What a wonderful teacher. Thank you for doing your part.

Deborah, I am delighted that you like the video segment. I used this program back in the 1990s with teachers in Great New Haven schools. I was one of the CT State facilitators for Sheff V. O'Neill. Sadly, we need this program for adults today and particularly in our government. Peace

Wow..

I'm loving this woman. If I was taught this, when I was in 3rd grade, I would of not been so profiled. The stuff I learned while watching this has changed me. I'm Greek and went through raciest comment growing up and it made me feel different. Once I learned about blacks I felt a little better but not much. I related more with blacks yellows etc then with the white people. But as an adult I always steeped, in to help the other person that's different. That's who I was and became but watching this omg I love this woman. Thank you Jane Elliott for what u done to change us. Wow
