Amazingly, the members of Crooked X --who have been friends and playing music since fifth grade—are now only 14, mere high school freshmen in Coweta, OK (population 7,000). Guitarist Jesse Cooper emphasizes: “We don’t want to be looked at for our age, because our music is good for any age. And, YES, we do write our own songs!” Crooked X cites everything from Pantera to Hank Williams Sr. to Metallica as influences, and share songwriting and lyrical duties for a true full-band collaboration.
Crooked X’s MPM/EMI/Capitol self-titled debut (out January 27, 2009) features the dark riffs of “Nightmare” (featured in Rock Band™), the first single, “Rock & Roll Dream,” and “Adrenaline,” the subject of a Wayne Isham-directed video. Even before scoring their 2008 deal with EMI, Crooked X were opening for KISS in Europe, touring with Ted Nugent, and released (on October 7th, 2008) a digital-only release of the three-song EP, Til We Bleed, for rabid fans of all ages.
Fade
Crooked X Lyrics

And turn me into you
Just go ahead and blame me
For somethin I didn't do
Don't wanna hear no more
Just tryin to make it through the day
Not fade away
I got to find some shelter
From all this helter-skelter
A place where no one else can go...
Where everything that hurts just seems to fade away
Fade away from me
And everything I am gets lost when I escape
Fade away from me
Gone sometimes for weeks
Time slips by and everything goes back to yesterday
Back to yesterday
Don't wanna hear no more
Just tryin to make it through the night
Through this life
I got to find some shelter
From all this helter-skelter
A place where no one else can go...
Where everything that hurts just seems to fade away
Fade away from me
And everything I am gets lost when I escape
Fade away from me
The lyrics of Crooked X's "Fade" describe a longing for a retreat from the chaos and unpredictability of the world. The singer is faced with pressure to conform to societal norms, and is accused of wrongdoing despite their innocence. They seek solace in a place where they are unburdened by the challenges of everyday life. The repeated line "fade away from me" suggests that the singer wishes to escape their problems and discover a sense of inner peace.
The first verse addresses the singer's frustration with the expectations placed upon them. They reject attempts to change their identity, and refuse to be blamed for things they didn't do. This sentiment is echoed in the bridge, where they express a desire to simply "make it through the day" and "make it through the night." The repetition of these lines emphasizes the singer's weariness and emotional exhaustion.
In the chorus, the singer describes their ideal refuge. They crave a place where they can escape the pain and confusion of the world, where they can let go of their identity and embrace anonymity. The phrase "everything that hurts just seems to fade away" suggests that the singer is dealing with deep emotional pain, and the repetition of "fade away from me" reinforces this idea.
The song's overall theme is one of longing for escape and refuge. The repeated chorus emphasizes the singer's desire for a place where they can disconnect from their troubles and find peace. The lyrics also touch on the universal human struggle to find our place in the world and avoid disillusionment.

A ballad this deep and beautiful, came from young teenagers.... It breaks my heart they fell off the radar and the band ended up splitting. Also r.i.p Jessie, talented kid, sadly taken from us. Why does talent die and garbage remains breathing....,,
