Crossfire Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's not an end and not a lie
I know that the black shadows
Fell on heart and will never leave
I should have known that never turning back
Refires our love from the ashes left
Wish I could cry so high
But my hopes are leaving now
You take my soul and take it away from me
Just like as the stars in the sky
I can see but I can not touch it
As long as you are my life
I promised myself and I've kept on living
But everything changed and faded to black
Like my heart once shining
Now cold and darkness fall on me
Everytime I feel...
Everytime I hear...
Everytime I see...
Now cold and darkness fall in...
Everytime I feel...
Everytime I hear...
Everytime I see...
Now cold and darkness fall in...
Everytime I feel...
Everytime I hear...
Everytime I see...
Now cold and darkness fall in...
Everytime I feel...
Everytime I hear...
Everytime I see...
Now cold and darkness fall in...
The lyrics of Crossfire's song "and Darkness Fallin'" explore themes of loss, heartbreak, and the overwhelming feeling of darkness and emptiness that follows. The singer addresses someone, possibly a lover or a close friend, urging them to listen and not to cry. They assure the listener that it is not the end nor a lie, suggesting that there is a truth that needs to be confronted.
The lyrics convey a sense of regret, as the singer acknowledges that they should have known that they could never go back to how things were before. They express the idea that their love can no longer be revived from the ashes of what once was. The singer desires to cry out in despair, but their hopes and emotions are fading away. This could indicate a sense of helplessness and resignation.
The next stanza emphasizes the immense significance of the listener in the singer's life. They compare the listener to stars in the sky, something beautiful and distant that they can admire but can never truly reach or hold onto. Despite this, the singer confesses that the listener is their life, and they have promised themselves to keep living. However, something significant changed, and everything that once shone brightly, including their heart, has turned dark and cold.
The repeated refrain in the song signifies how the singer's experiences of feeling, hearing, and seeing things are now tainted by the cold darkness that has enveloped them. It suggests that these feelings of darkness permeate every aspect of the singer's existence, leaving them overwhelmed and unable to escape the oppressive weight of their emotions.
The lyrics provide a poignant and emotional portrayal of a profound loss and the subsequent darkness that engulfs the singer's life. They express a longing for what was lost and the inability to fully comprehend or escape the heaviness of their emotions. The song's haunting melody and repetitive phrases further capture the sense of despair and hopelessness that permeates the lyrics.
