Eternity
Crowhead Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Before you kiss me again
A scar in my hand…
Tell me in the name of love
I can taste your blood on my tongue
I drink your soul
And you’re mine…
Eternity … true love from you
Blood on my knife
Kill you in the name of love
These lyrics from Crowhead's song Eternity depict a disturbing and macabre theme of love and obsession. The first line, "Promise me you'll tell me the truth before you kiss me again," sets the tone for the possessive nature of the singer's love for their partner. The "scar in my hand" could be symbolic of a mark left by the partner or a physical representation of the pain and emotional trauma endured by the singer in the name of love.
The second stanza becomes even more unsettling as the singer describes tasting their partner's blood and drinking their soul. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for consuming their partner's essence and becoming one with them. The final line, "Kill you in the name of love," further emphasizes the extreme and dangerous lengths the singer is willing to go to keep their partner.
Overall, these lyrics paint a disturbing portrait of a love that is twisted and almost vampiric in nature. The use of violence and bloodshed to express devotion highlights the unhealthy and dangerous aspects of obsessive love.
