Crown Lands Lyrics

Watch you weigh it down
Through the hollow city of sorrows
I feel like a wolf in darkness
I feel like the Amazon
I feel like a current that harkens
Feel like a waterfall!
I watch you wait
Watch, it's too late now
Illuminate, the light that conceals
Flight but don't fight, feel- don't feel
As the wicked (as the wicked) cry out for more
I feel like a wolf in darkness
I feel like the Amazon
I feel like a current that harkens
Feel like a waterfall!
I feel the heart of darkness
I feel the heart of darkness slither down
The Amazon
The horror, the horror, the horror
I feel it, I feel it
The heart of darkness, the heart of darkness
I feel it, I feel it, I feel it!
The heart of darkness, the heart of darkness
I feel it, I feel it, I feel it!
The horror
, the horror, the horror
The heart of darkness slithers down
In these lyrics, Crown Lands singer and songwriter, Cody Bowles, is expressing feelings of being overwhelmed by the weight of the world and the struggles faced in society. The metaphor of the "hollow city of sorrows" is used to convey a sense of despair and emptiness. The lyrics also make a reference to Joseph Conrad's novel, "Heart of Darkness", with the repeated line "the horror, the horror", which is a well-known passage from the book.
The chorus is the highlight of the song, with Bowles comparing himself to a wolf, the Amazon, a current and a waterfall. These lines demonstrate the power and strength that can be found in nature, which Bowles seems to be using as a source of inspiration to face the challenges that are presented in life. The lyrics "flight but don't fight, feel-don't feel" suggest that sometimes it is better to surrender and feel your emotions rather than resist them.
In the final lines of the song, Bowles seems to give in to the darkness that surrounds him, acknowledging the emotional weight that we all carry within us. The line "the heart of darkness slithers down" has a haunting quality to it, with the repeated use of "the horror, the horror" increasing the sense of unease.
