Ride on
Crustation Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

True you ride the finest horse
I've ever seen
Standing sixteen one or two
With eyes wide and green
You ride the horse so well
Hands light to the touch
I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on
See you
I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on
See you
I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
When you ride into the night
Without out a trace behind
Run your claw along my gush
One last time
I turn to face an empty space
Where you used to lie
And look for the spark that lights the night
Through the teardrop in my eye
Ride on
See you
I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to
Ride on
See you

I could never go with you
No matter how I wanted to

Overall Meaning

The song "Ride On" by Crustation is a melancholic ballad about a person who admires another person's fine horse-riding skills but cannot follow them to wherever they may go. The singer speaks of this person's impressive control over their horse, and how they are so skilled that their hands are "light to the touch." Even though they may desire to join this person on their journey, they know that it is impossible, no matter how much they want to. The person will ride out into the night without leaving any trace behind, and the singer is left to lament the empty space where this person once laid. They search for the "spark that lights the night," but are met with only tears in their eyes.

The lyrics of "Ride On" convey feelings of longing, admiration, and regret. The singer is both amazed by this individual's ability to ride so well and saddened by the fact that they cannot follow them. The person on the horse represents a freedom and untetheredness that the singer desires, but ultimately cannot attain. The song is a meditation on the distance between two people, and the pain that comes from being unable to bridge that gap.

Wow, Christy Moore Ride on cover is amazing. With the singers name too Bronagh Slevin she's definitely either Irish or had Irish parents.

This is a hidden gem of '90s-era trip hop. You'd think being on Jive Records, it would have gotten more publicity.

dev_willis

One of the best albums ever recorded.

Yes one of the very very best ever, so timeless and magical almost hypnotic surrealistic

After the production of the EP stuff, they put out this album..and that was it, to this day these songs are used in compilations of chill sessions, lounge and trip-hop...I saw some albums that were created before Crustation's Bloom, I think it has fallen apart long before we even knew it existed. The singer has a book out, has a facebook account too if you wanna check her, the other guys...no trace
